Rooted in Nature Thinking of You Card

Yesterday, I shared my version of a masculine card using the Rooted In Nature stamp set and Faux Batik technique. Today’s card is a softer more feminine card using a simple watercolor background and the same set! Thinking of you cards can be the hardest to make.  A soft watercolor wash seems to give a soothing fell along with a soothing color palette.

The Creative Way – A Product Feature – Rooted In Nature

This month for The Creative Way I am sharing projects made with the Rooted In Nature Stamp set!  This set will be available in June 2. I have so enjoyed working with the awesome stamp set.  Rooted In Nature is available as a Bundle which saves you 10%  The bundle includes coordinating dies!! How cool is that!!! You can join me Every Monday & Friday for The Creative Way – A Product Feature. Any yes, I know today is Tuesday!  It is a bonus day!  Yeppie!!!!

Nature

Rooted In Nature Bundle

I love watercolor backgrounds.  They are a quick way to add so much interest to a card!  Plus there’s like a million ways (techniques) that you can use to create fun watercolor backgrounds.  When I pull out watercolor supplies I normally end up making a bunch of backgrounds.  Mainly because I love the process of just sitting and trying different things till I’m content.  Also, it gives me a starting point for so many projects if I have a few watercolored papers hanging around. The other thing is watercolor always, always, always looks it’s worse right before it looks nice or pretty.  And wet always looks way worse than dry.  I can’t tell you how many prices of watercolor I have pulled out of the trash because I threw them away wet.  And once they were dry, I decided that’s not so horrible.  One of my favorite colors to use for watercolor is Tempting Turquoise (Retiring).  I just adore this color when it is combined with water! So, I wanted to make sure I used it on a card before it was gone!

Thinking of you card using Rooted In Nature

  • The watercolor was very simply done with ink refills and a aqua painter using Bermuda Bay and Tempting Turquoise
  • I worked Tempting Turquoise from one end to the middle. And Bermuda Bay from the other to the middle . Letting the two cross and blend.  This makes a very easy gradient wash.
  • After the initial color dried, I splattered Lemon Lime Twist on the background
  • The Leaves from Rooted In Nature were stamped in Lemon Lime Twist, Mint Macaroon, and Bermuda Bay. The die cut with the coordinating dies.
  • The Sentiment heat embossed with black embossing powder on vellum
  • The final step was to add some texture with the Sliver Thread and Nature’s Poem Twine (Mint Macaroon)

I love envelopes decorating! So I decided to add the leaves to the envelope!!!

Envelope decorated with Rooted In Nature Stamp Set

  • Using the same colors as the card, Bermuda Bay, Mint Macaroon, and Lemon Lime Twist the leaves were randomly stamped on the envelope flap
  • To protect the envelope front while stamping the flap, I used A piece of masking paper (Avery removable labels 6465)
  • The finishing touch was to add a few leaves to the front of the envelope

Thinking of you

I hope you have enjoyed seeing this bonus card for The Creative Way!!  I have so enjoyed sharing Rooted In Nature with you! Also seriously, the Tempting Turquoise ink is amazing for watercolor!! If you like this look I highly suggest you purchase it now!!

Share what you love – make a difference

Today is the day!! You can order your Share What You Love Bundle.  The Stampin’ Up! sentiment of the heart states… To love what we do and to share what we love, as we help others enjoy creativity a worthwhile accomplishment…in this we make a difference.  The Share what you love bundle honors the statement o the heart. There are actually three bundle choices.  One for every style of paper craftier!  The just getting started bundle!  Witch contains the Love What You Do stamp set. Two ink pads, some paper, and a stamp block .

Share What You Love

The second bundle, for the enthusiastic paper crafters has two stamp sets (Love What You Do and Make a Difference), card stock, ink pad, and embellishments .

The third bundle aka Got To Have It All…has three stamp sets including the Statement of The Heart. Also included is Share What You Love Designer Series Paper, ink, and embellishments.  The Statement of The Heart stamp is only available in this bundle!

Besides the three bundles. You can also order the new In-Color ink pads!!!!

I knew I wanted to use the Make A Difference Stamp set! This set is so lovely!

Make A Difference

Make A Difference Stamp Set

Anyone who knows me, Knows that I love a good alphabet set! And this one is awesome!  The font is beautiful!  The stamps work together so easily.  Just imagine beautiful envelopes, personalized card backs or gift tags, or specific sentiment

The Share What You Love Suite not only honors the statement of the heart,  its products celebrate Stampin’ Up’s 30th anniversary.  So pearls it was. The Share What You Love Designer Series Paper was hand watercolored by one of Stampin’ Up! artist with shimmer watercolors to give that pearl look

I also knew I had been dying to use the Lovely Floral Dynamic Texture Impressions Embossing Folder!  This embossing folder is beautiful!

Lovely Floral

So, on to the card!   I decided on a color combination taken right from the Designer Series Paper.  Mint Macaroon, Grapefruit Grove, and Blackberry Bliss.  Mint Macaroon and Blackberry Bliss are two former In-Colors that are returning as part of the base color collection from Stampin’ Up!

Make A Difference

  • The first thing was to emboss the Mint Macaroon with the Lovely Floral Embossing Folder.
  • I knew in the back of my head that I wanted to use the dots from the Designer Series Paper, so the second step was to combine the embossing and the dots….aka figure out the design
  • I also know that I wanted to use the Make A Difference stamp set. So, I decided on a simple sentiment.
  • The final step was to add texture and embellishments

Make A Difference

  • The Hello was stamped in Basic Black on Whisper White.  Then it was cut out to make a banner. The final step was running the edges through the Grapefruit Grove ink.
  • The doily was sponges in Mint Macaroon. And then in a different spot I used the light Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends.  I tried inking it first very heavily in Grapefruit Grove.  But, it did not dry.  The blend worked very well.  And the very light sponging did as
  • The White twine that is part of the Share What You Love Embellishment Kit was added to the sentiment .As well as the metal rose
  • The bakers twine in the embellishment kit was separated into the two colors behind the Hello Banner
  • The final thing was to add some of the Share What You Love pearls.

Bon Voyage Retiring In-Colors

Stamping Blog Hop

Welcome to the Remarkable InkBig Blog Hop for April 2018. This month our theme is Bon Voyage Retiring In-Colors!  You may just be starting the blog hop here at my blog – Jennifer Spiller at Westside Paper Creations or may have come from the person previous to me on the list. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all the projects.

Bon Voyage 2016-2018 In-Colors you will be missed

I have so enjoyed using these beautiful In-Colors. In so many ways, I’m kinda sad to see them go…on the other had I am super excited about all the New Colors coming soon in the Annual Catalog .  More about that on another day!  Today, we are saying Bon Voyage to the retiring In-Colors, which includes Dapper Denim, Emerald Envy, Sweet Sugarplum, and Peekaboo Peach.  Flirty Flimango is also part of this color family. But, it is staying around for a few more years! Yeppie for that!!  I decided that the Faux Batik technique would be perfect to show off the beauty of this In-Color collection . I just pulled out a bunch of stamp sets and started playing with the technique .Then when I was finished I made a few cards out of the panels.  This technique works best with stamps that have more of a solid image. If you would like to know more about Faux Batik check out this post here.

Faux Batik

  • The colors used for the Faux Batik effect are Peekaboo Peach and Sweet Sugarplum
  • The stamps came from Petal Passion, Painted Harvest, and Oh So Eclectic stamp sets
  • I liked the Faux Batik so much I decided to keep the card quite simple so it could shine
  • The silver thread and copper thread adds a little texture without taking away from the background

The Faux Batik effect was created by

  1. Stamping and heat embossing images onto tissue paper
  2. Layering the tissue paper over a piece of Shimmery White paper .
  3. Using a baby  wipe sponge color onto the tissue paper.
  4. The color will transfer to the paper everywhere you add ink except in the embossed areas .
  5. To learn more about the Faux Batik technique, check out this post!  To see other Faux Batik cards click here and here

Faux Batik

  • This background is made with Dapper Denim and three different sizes of circles. One from Waterfront , One from Oh So Eclectic, and One from Painted Harvest
  • Where you can see the ink went over some circles. That is because I layered my embossed tissue paper to create the effect .
  • The word celebrate is layered up by stacking three Dapper Denim one Peekaboo Peach on top. The adhesive sheets makes this process super easy

Faux Batik

  • These little trees from the Waterfront set are perfect for the Faux Batik technique!
  • This time I used Emerald Envy and Peekaboo Peach to creat the Batik effect
  • After it dried, the trees were cut out with the Stiched Shapes Dies
  • Layering with crumb cake and the Seaside Embossing Folder
  • The dollie was sponged with both Emerald Envy and Peekaboo Peach

Vertical Greetings

Welcome to the Pals February 2018 Blog Hop. Our theme this month is “Case the Catty”. The Stampin’ Pretty Pals will copy or remake projects from any of the current Stampin’ Up! catalogs and brochures. After all, who doesn’t CASE (Copy and Share Everything) once in a while. You may be just starting or hopped over from another Pal. In either case you’ll find the line-up toward the end of my post to help you move along.

I was thinking about exactly what card I wanted to CASE. And decided on a card in the occasions catalog . I love the bright colors and the gradient look with the heat embossing!

In my interpretation of the card, I completely changed the colors.  I did used the technique with the blends to create my background . And the card was turned on its side . And instead of a white card base with a little texture added by stamping .I used the Tutti-Frutti notecards available during Sale-A-Bration .

I love these patterned notecards and envelopes!  I love even more that they are FREE with a $50 purchase.  Yeppie!!!!

  • The gradient background was created with Stampin’ Blends . I used Night of Navy, Bermuda Bay, and Pool Party. This technique is very easy to create .I just simply colored on Whisper White paper each color using the brush tip and overlapping the colors .
  • After the background was created, I stamped the flower-pot from Vertical Greetings with versamark. Then I heat embossed it with copper embossing powder.
  • The just because was heat embossed in while on Night of Navy card stock
  • The final touch was adding the Night of Navy and Calypso Coral Enamel Shapes

Merry Café

Yesterday, I shared a sweet pouch box that is perfect for a set of cards. You can see the pouch box here. Today, I’m sharing the cards that will go into the pouch as a gift! I used the same products to make coordinating cards.  The Merry Café is defiantly a favorite stamp set.

Merry Café

I love how this set coordinates with the Coffee Café bundle in the annual catalog.  The little perk up even coordinates with the small coffee cup die. What fun!

Coffee Café Bundle

I mix and match stamps from both sets all the time! I love the sketched look of the coffee cup in Merry Café so I use it a lot!!! I also adore the little coffee beans in the Coffee Café set !   They both go perfectly with the Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper.

I adore this paper! I seem to be wanting to use it on every project! The colors are just amazing and there are some watercolor wash pages that I just love!!

  • The colors are Cajun Craze, Soft Sky, and Chocolate Chip.
  • The thanks a latte (Coffee Café) is stamped in Soft Sky!  I promise thought, I’m wondering if I used Pool Party to ink my Soft Sky Ink Pad.
  • The coffee cup(Merry Café) is stamped on designer series paper then die cut with the coordinating dies Along with the coffee lid on Cajun Craze
  • The coffee cup sleeve is die cut in Crumb Cake
  • The little adorable espresso beans are stamped on Very Vanilla with Chocolate Chip ink
  • The background is a few stamps from the Merry Café set using Old Olive and Cajun Craze

  • The colors used are Cajun Craze, Daffodil Delight, and Basic Black
  • The Daffodil Delight layer is embossed with the layers leaves embossing folder
  • The sentiment is from the Merry Café set. How fun is that sentiment
  • The yellow peeping out behind the Cajun Craze coffee cup sleeve is made by cutting a yellow sleeve then cutting it in half and glueing it to the back of the other coffee  sleeve.

The card base is a Very Vanilla Note Cards (4 bar size)  The Stampin’ Up! Note Cards and envelopes are perfect for this size of card!!!  The layers are as fallows

  • 3 3/8 by 5 7/8 inches
