Stampin’ Blends

I love craft supplies!  I really enjoy trying different coloring methods.  That being said I also have a little sickness called “full set syndrome”  So, when I discover a new coloring medium I dive straight in having to have them all. When Stampin’ Up! introduced their new alcohol markers back during the winter, I was all in!  I loved the alcohol markers I owned (Prismacolor). And now I could have a similar marker with Stampin’ Up! exclusive colors!!! Um, Yes! PLEASE!  When I got these markers in my hand I was even more head over heals!!! The Stampin’ Blends are beyond amazing!

The Creative Way – A Product Feature, Stampin’ Blends

These amazing markers come in 13 amazing colors currently!  A light and dark of 11 Stampin’ Up! colors, ivory, and bronze. There is also a color lifer. The colors available now are, light and dark of each: Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler, Night of Navy, Rich Razzleberry, Pumpkin Pie, Bermuda Bay, Crumb Cake, Smoky Slate, Pool Party, and Calypso Coral.   Very soon, there will be even more colors added! (Hopefully Mid June)

Stampin' Blends

Why do I love these markers so much? Because as the name suggests they have a amazing ability to blend together creating a smooth or compleat colored image with out harsh lines.  This is because of the alcohol in the markers.

When working with Stampin’ Blends you want to use an ink that will not bless when the alcohol touches it!  Stampin’ Up!  has a great in that is perfect for the Stampin’ Blends. This ink is Memento Tuxedo Black. There are other choices on the market.  But, Memento Tuxedo Black is a wonderful ink that you will enjoy using.

The paper you choose to work on will greatly determine the results of the project. Whisper White is a wonderful choice! The clay finish on the paper makes it wonderful to color on.  Shimmery White is also another choice.  The ink moves really well on Shimmery White Paper.  So, you have to be really careful when coloring close to the edges of images. Cause the color will bleed on this paper.  But, this is easy enough to fix with the color lifter. Another great choice is Glossy White. The blends become very bold on glossy white paper!  The blending effect is less and it is really easy to get dynamic colors.

Today I am show you two cards that have the same background. One is on shimmery white paper The second is one is on Glossy White. Hopefully you will be able to see the difference in the two papers. Both backgrounds were made by scribbling color in kinda rainbow order… The first color was the New Pineapple Punch (available Mid June), then Daffodil Delight light and dark, Calypso Coral light and dark, Cherry Cobbler light and dark, Lovely Lipstick (available Mid June), and Rich Razzleberry light and dark.  Each time a new color was added It was overlapped with the previous color. And if needed more of either overlapping color was added. This created the desired gradient look.  After the coloring was finished the background was spritzed with alcohol leaving water like spots. Also I Flicked ink from several of the markers over the background

Card

  • The background is shimmery white paper with a Stampin’ Blend gradient color pattern
  • The second step was to add the text from the new Handwritten Background stamp with white embossing powder
  • The next step was to heat emboss the edges of the paper
  • Then I picked two contrasting colors (to the background), Bermuda Bay and Granny Apple Green. For the bird and leaves

The stamp set used is Petal Palette along with the Birds and Blooms Thinlit Dies and Petals & More Thinlets Dies

Happy Birthday Card

  • This background is Stampin’ Blends on Glossy White Paper
  • The Happy Birthday was die cut in both Bermuda Bay and Granny Apple Green then sniped so that the Granny Apple Green Birthday could be glued on top of the happy Bi in Bermuda Bay
  • The silver oval is two layers of silver embossing powder. This give the oval a metal look

Hers a look at the two cards side by side! In this picture you can see the difference in the two backgrounds.  Remember the only difference in the process of making the backgrounds was the paper

Gradient background with Stampin' Blends

I really enjoyed making these easy backgrounds! I hope you will give this fun technique a try!

Bon Voyage Retiring In-Colors

Stamping Blog Hop

Welcome to the Remarkable InkBig Blog Hop for April 2018. This month our theme is Bon Voyage Retiring In-Colors!  You may just be starting the blog hop here at my blog – Jennifer Spiller at Westside Paper Creations or may have come from the person previous to me on the list. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all the projects.

Bon Voyage 2016-2018 In-Colors you will be missed

I have so enjoyed using these beautiful In-Colors. In so many ways, I’m kinda sad to see them go…on the other had I am super excited about all the New Colors coming soon in the Annual Catalog .  More about that on another day!  Today, we are saying Bon Voyage to the retiring In-Colors, which includes Dapper Denim, Emerald Envy, Sweet Sugarplum, and Peekaboo Peach.  Flirty Flimango is also part of this color family. But, it is staying around for a few more years! Yeppie for that!!  I decided that the Faux Batik technique would be perfect to show off the beauty of this In-Color collection . I just pulled out a bunch of stamp sets and started playing with the technique .Then when I was finished I made a few cards out of the panels.  This technique works best with stamps that have more of a solid image. If you would like to know more about Faux Batik check out this post here.

Faux Batik

  • The colors used for the Faux Batik effect are Peekaboo Peach and Sweet Sugarplum
  • The stamps came from Petal Passion, Painted Harvest, and Oh So Eclectic stamp sets
  • I liked the Faux Batik so much I decided to keep the card quite simple so it could shine
  • The silver thread and copper thread adds a little texture without taking away from the background

The Faux Batik effect was created by

  1. Stamping and heat embossing images onto tissue paper
  2. Layering the tissue paper over a piece of Shimmery White paper .
  3. Using a baby  wipe sponge color onto the tissue paper.
  4. The color will transfer to the paper everywhere you add ink except in the embossed areas .
  5. To learn more about the Faux Batik technique, check out this post!  To see other Faux Batik cards click here and here

Faux Batik

  • This background is made with Dapper Denim and three different sizes of circles. One from Waterfront , One from Oh So Eclectic, and One from Painted Harvest
  • Where you can see the ink went over some circles. That is because I layered my embossed tissue paper to create the effect .
  • The word celebrate is layered up by stacking three Dapper Denim one Peekaboo Peach on top. The adhesive sheets makes this process super easy

Faux Batik

  • These little trees from the Waterfront set are perfect for the Faux Batik technique!
  • This time I used Emerald Envy and Peekaboo Peach to creat the Batik effect
  • After it dried, the trees were cut out with the Stiched Shapes Dies
  • Layering with crumb cake and the Seaside Embossing Folder
  • The dollie was sponged with both Emerald Envy and Peekaboo Peach

Spring has sprung…

Spring is just around the corner! Here in Alabama the trees are beginning to bloom and all the early spring flowers are up, daffodils, tulips, and others.  We had a warm February that got things rolling towards an early spring .But, old man winter is not through with us yet . The mornings have been cold (Alabama cold, mind you) and crisp . The birds are chirping there happy songs and the Pals are hopping along .

Welcome to the Pals March 2018 Blog Hop. Our theme this month is “Spring has Sprung”. The Stampin’ Pretty Pals will inspire you with Spring or Spring-related projects. You may see floral, Easter or other general Spring-inspired designs. You may be just starting or hopped over from another Pal. In either case you’ll find the line-up toward the end of my post to help you move along.

I love this time of the year when the birds start chirp their happy song.  It means Spring is right around the corner! One stamp set in the Occasions Catalog brings all the spring Birds home!  Flying Home makes me think about all the migrating birds flying back to their favorite backyard bird houses.

Flying Home Stamp Set

I think this may be the sweetest stamp set I have ever seen!   It just screams cute!!  In some ways it is very retro . In other ways it has a modern feel . So, as it once was said… what once was old is new again!

  • The bird houses were stamped with memento ink. Then colored with the Stampin’ Blends. Often I use my Prisms Color Markers along with the Blends .But, lately I have been trying to just use my Blends .
  • The card base is from Sale-A-Bration .The Tutti Frutti card bases and envelopes!  These card bases and envelopes are amazing! I love the colors . And the patterns make it easy to add anything you want on top!
  • The Hello is from Banners For You

The next two cards are actually the inspiration to create the card above as a clean and straight lined version!  Not all cards have to have lots of texture to be beautiful!  I love the straight forward version above as much as I love the full of layers and texture versions below!!!   All three cards could be made either way and still be beautiful!

  • Layers of texture are  like the branches, twigs, and twine that birds gather to build a nest. Layers of twine, ribbon, and vellum come together to build a backdrop for a sweet nest of birds
  • The stamped image is once again colored with the blends . To be honest, this would be a great set to also color with the. Stampin’ Write markers . The images for the most part are small enough that streaking is not an issue if you work fast . So, please do not feel that you must have Stampin’ Blends to color these images
  • The Hello Friend is from the Stamp Set A Good Day!

  • Yet again lots of layers and texture
  • The flower and the vellum leaves are from the dies May Flowers .These dies are perfect for all your Spring crafting needs
  • The flower and the vellum leaf are steeped up a bit .  I used my Stampin’ Blends in the light Daffodil Delight to quickly color both .
  • The sentiment is from the Perennial Birthday Stamp set . It was to long for the space .So, I simply cut it in half . That was after trying several , and I mean SEVERAL different options . Finally, yesterday morning it just came together like magic .
  • The final touch was to add the enamel shapes

I always live decorating my envelopes! The Tutti Frutti envelopes are so pretty it really does not take much to add a little something special to them.  I used the little small birds and butterfly’s in the Flying Home set to add the extra touches for my envelopes

You say it’s your birthday….

Happiest of days! The Inking Royalty blog hop is here!!! And we are celebrating Birthdays!!

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s February Blog Hop! Today’s Blog Hop today is filled to the brim with projects that celebrate birthdays. The opening line from The Beatles’ “Birthday” song ran through our heads as we joyfully created the birthday-themed creations we share with you today.  After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

My favorite birthday set is Happiest of days  So, of course I had to use it today for the blog hop!!! I love the sweet feel of this set! It is also perfect for coloring! Witch makes me very happy ?

There is so much wonderfulness in this set! The adorable cake! The sweet presents! And the extra elements! Not to mention how perfect the sentiments are!

  • Using Stampin’ Blends I colored the dots in the designer series paper, the paper doily, the flower, and the leaves .
  • The next step was to add texture by adding layers of ribbon, bakers twine, and paper doily.
  •  Finally the sentiment is popped up with the layers of ovals!

I decided that because we were celebrating birthdays that I would decorate a matching envelope!

The decorated envelope brings all the happiness of the Birthday moment to reality!

The second card, I decided to do a little extra coloring to completely change the look of the designer series paper.  The Petal Passion Designer Series Paper is perfect to alter with color.

This paper is a must have from the Occasions Catalog! I love it as is! But, it is also loads of fun to add color to the paper making completely unique for your card!!

  • By coloring the background pool party it completely changes the feel of the Designer Series Paper
  • The layers of texture add a Vintage feel to the card
  • The final delicate touch was to add  the Tutti Frutti sequins

Here again I used some of the extra elements from the stamp set to make a super special envelope!

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you’ll hop along to the next stop on the blog hop, Candy Ford at Stamp Candy There’s lots of inspiration to be found in this group – and you don’t want to miss it!
