A fun summer color combination for Global Design Project

I have not participated in an online challenge in a very long time! So, when I saw this weeks Global Design Project color challenge I knew it was time to participate!  The colors for the challenge are Pool Party, Lemon Lime Twist, and Mellon Mambo.  This fun summer color combination will make you wish for bright flowers, limeade, and a pool!!

A fun summer color combination

Does this fun color combination not scream Summer!! I know you are nodding yes!!! Yes it does!!   Be sure to check out the fabulous creations by the Design Team!!!  They sure are full of talent!!!

I was super excited to see a new frame stamp set in the upcoming Annual Catalog! Swirly Frames Stamp Set (146519) has circles, rectangles, and a square.  I love the whimsical feel!

Swirly Frames was paired it with the Varied Vases (146644) and the Petal Passion Designer Series Paper! (45589)

Tuesday I shared a super sweet card that featured the Varied Vases Stamp Set! If you happen to miss it! Here you go!

Love this fun summer color combination for #GDP137. Melon Mambo, Pool Party, and Lemon Lime Twist

  • I have really enjoyed the Petal Passion Designer Series Paper.  One of my favorite things is to color the paper with Stampin’ Blends.
  • I used my pool party light and dark.  Then because I did not have Lemon Lime Twist in a Stampin’ Blend, I used Chartreuse and Lime Peal in Prismacolor.

Love this fun summer color combination for #GDP137. Melon Mambo, Pool Party, and Lemon Lime Twist

  • The circle frame was Stamped in Melon Mambo.  Then die cut with one of the Layering Circles. And backed with a Pool Party Scalloped Circle from the same Layering Dies
  • The flower was stamped in Basic Black.  The stamped with the fill in stamp in Melon Mambo after stamping off once
  • The final step was to add the sweet sentiment!  I just think this font is the most adorable ever…

I love decorating envelopes!  For this one I added the sweet flower in stair step fashion on one side!

Varied Vases and Swirly Frame come together for #GDP137

Waterfront

One of my must have stamp sets from the Occasions Catalog was the Waterfront set! From the moment I saw it, I know I had to have it!  Then it sat around on my desk for about two months staring at me….by then I had seen all the amazing cards that were being made with this set. And it became a little intimidating.  So, It sat stared at me another month!  Then finally, I decided to get over my fear and just use the set and see what happens.  After stamping each image, I came up with a plan.  And quickly designed a card around my little scene.  And that’s where it set for at least two more weeks patiently waiting and yes still staring at me.  Needless to say, Todays Waterfront card was a long time in the making and I very happy to be sharing it with you today!!!

Waterfront

The cool thing about the Waterfront Stamp Set is that all the elements just work so naturally together! Really, all you have to do is pick a few colors and start building a scene.  Awesome! I can do that!!

Waterfront Stamp Set by Stampin' Up!

Waterfront Stamp Set

You can make beach front views, mountain views, or lake front views all from one stamp set!!!  Let’s take a moment to really appreciate how wonderful the sentiments are!  Friends makes the good times better, love never gives up, and every little kindness makes the world better

Card made using the Waterfront Stamp Set

  • The colors used are Dapper Denim, Always Artichoke, Night of Navy, Daffodil Delight, and Smoky Slate
  • The Night of Navy card stock is embossed with one of the Petal Pair Embossing Folders.
  • The next layer is a leftover strip of Daffodil Delight watercolor
  • Then on top of that is the Smoky Slate Gingham Ribbon
  •  The sentiment was added and the little yellow enamel shapes

The Waterfront Stamp Set will be returning in the Up Coming Annual Catalog!! It really is an awesome stamp set!

Miss You, Always….

Some friendships never die.  You may live miles apart or only talk every once in a while. But boy, when you do it is like a day never went by!   My bestie from 1st grade, I have been missing something awful. So, of course I had to make her a card . I moved  after second grade. We kept in touch by writing each other all the time. We were amazing pen pals.  We would visit each other most summers.  Miss You, Dawn! Hugs and love ?

One of the stamps, I was most excited about in the Up Coming catalog was the new Host set Hand Delivered

Hand Delivered

Hand Delivered Stamp Set

This set is so fun! I love the style of the skirt and how she is drawn.  I adore the font ! Most of all, I love that you can put different things in her hands .Balloons, a cake, books, and even a personalized sign!! So perfect!!

Miss You

  • The girl was stamped with memento black. Then colored in with the Stampin’ Blends
  • The Miss You was stamped inside the sign .Don’t you just love that font .
  • The Designer Series Paper is from the Tutti Frutti Paper Stack.  This stack has some awesome patterns in it!

The next thing was to decorate the envelope!   I used the same Designer Series Paper on the flap! Then stamped Miss You on the outside along with the little flowers that are in the Hand Delivered Stamp Set

Miss You

This one time I decided not to color in the flowers . I kinda felt like they were perfect just black and white . But, you most definitely could color them ?

Bon Voyage Retiring In-Colors

Stamping Blog Hop

Welcome to the Remarkable InkBig Blog Hop for April 2018. This month our theme is Bon Voyage Retiring In-Colors!  You may just be starting the blog hop here at my blog – Jennifer Spiller at Westside Paper Creations or may have come from the person previous to me on the list. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all the projects.

Bon Voyage 2016-2018 In-Colors you will be missed

I have so enjoyed using these beautiful In-Colors. In so many ways, I’m kinda sad to see them go…on the other had I am super excited about all the New Colors coming soon in the Annual Catalog .  More about that on another day!  Today, we are saying Bon Voyage to the retiring In-Colors, which includes Dapper Denim, Emerald Envy, Sweet Sugarplum, and Peekaboo Peach.  Flirty Flimango is also part of this color family. But, it is staying around for a few more years! Yeppie for that!!  I decided that the Faux Batik technique would be perfect to show off the beauty of this In-Color collection . I just pulled out a bunch of stamp sets and started playing with the technique .Then when I was finished I made a few cards out of the panels.  This technique works best with stamps that have more of a solid image. If you would like to know more about Faux Batik check out this post here.

Faux Batik

  • The colors used for the Faux Batik effect are Peekaboo Peach and Sweet Sugarplum
  • The stamps came from Petal Passion, Painted Harvest, and Oh So Eclectic stamp sets
  • I liked the Faux Batik so much I decided to keep the card quite simple so it could shine
  • The silver thread and copper thread adds a little texture without taking away from the background

The Faux Batik effect was created by

  1. Stamping and heat embossing images onto tissue paper
  2. Layering the tissue paper over a piece of Shimmery White paper .
  3. Using a baby  wipe sponge color onto the tissue paper.
  4. The color will transfer to the paper everywhere you add ink except in the embossed areas .
  5. To learn more about the Faux Batik technique, check out this post!  To see other Faux Batik cards click here and here

Faux Batik

  • This background is made with Dapper Denim and three different sizes of circles. One from Waterfront , One from Oh So Eclectic, and One from Painted Harvest
  • Where you can see the ink went over some circles. That is because I layered my embossed tissue paper to create the effect .
  • The word celebrate is layered up by stacking three Dapper Denim one Peekaboo Peach on top. The adhesive sheets makes this process super easy

Faux Batik

  • These little trees from the Waterfront set are perfect for the Faux Batik technique!
  • This time I used Emerald Envy and Peekaboo Peach to creat the Batik effect
  • After it dried, the trees were cut out with the Stiched Shapes Dies
  • Layering with crumb cake and the Seaside Embossing Folder
  • The dollie was sponged with both Emerald Envy and Peekaboo Peach

We must celebrat the good times….

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s April Blog Hop! This year’s hops are themed around some of our favorite songs. Today’s hop is pulls inspiration from B.B. King’s song “Let the Good Times Roll.” How fun is that?! We’ve created projects that either feature images with wheels (cards, wagons, bikes) or celebrate good times. We are excited to share our projects with you. After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

We all have those friends that make us laugh, smile, and generally feel better when we are around them. The we must celebrate stamp set honors those friends . The ones you have the most fun with.  Those that are in your tribe every step of the way!!

We Must Celebrate Stamp Set

We Must Celebrate Stamp Set

These critters are the best of friends . And you can just tell the party is going to be awesome!!!   That memory are about to be made ?

We must celebrate

  • The critters are stamped in memento tuxedo black .This is a Stampin’ Blends friendly ink.
  • The confetti was stamped in smoky slate .I stamped it twice before re-inking
  • Then I used the Stampin’ Blends to color everything in
  • The shadows in the grass are dark old olive pounced into the very saturated light old olive grass .
  • The sky was quit a challenge . Just keep at it .Eventually, you will end up with something you like .Mine is still very streaky . But, by adding different colors it kinda looks like clouds in the sky.
  • The banners are two of the new In Colors – Lovely Lipstick and Pineapple Punch.
