We are Family…

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s November Blog Hop! This year’s Blog Hop themes are inspired by popular songs – this month’s song is “We are Family.” As you might guess, our Blog Hop today is filled with projects that are inspired by family – we have a wide variety of projects today! We are excited to share our creations with you today! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

One of my favorite family Christmas memory is going to a tree farm to select our tree.  We had always had artificial trees as long as I could remember. So having a live tree that we picked out was extra special.

When I was thinking about what I wanted to share with you guys, the Cambridge Christmas and Buffalo Plaid stamps came to mind.

I know exactly what I wanted!! A beautiful rich red (Cherry Cobbler) and Black buffalo Plaid with tha tree stamp from Cambridge Christmas!  Perfect!! I could just see the card!!!!!

Here’s where things went kinda astray.  I have been in the middle of moving for a few months. All my stamping goodness is packed away in boxes.  Anyway, needless to say I could not find my Buffalo Plaid stamp set anywhere.  ??? What’s a girl to do??? In looking for the stamp set I did run across some old (definitely retired, or so old it might not be Stampin’ Up!  ,not really sure where this paper came from) Plaid paper that would work!!! Yeppie….now exactly where is that Buffalo Plaid stamp????

  • The color combination is Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, and Basic Black .
  • Stamp sets Cambridge Christmas, Buffalo Plaid(???), and Itty Bitty Wishes
  • The tree was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black on Very Vanilla. Then colored with Stampin’ Blends( Old Olive, Crumb Cake, and Soft Suede)
  • The sentiment was stamped in Versa Mark and heat embossed with black embossing powder
  • The final touch was the Cherry Cobbler bow. The bakers twine is part of the Festive Farmhouse Cotton Twine pack

My next card came to me during the night Monday. So of course Tuesday morning I got my coffee and made this card before work.  The idea was a snowy day picking out the family tree.

  • The first step was to make the background of snow. To do this, I painted Frost White Shimmer Paint on Pool Party Paper.  After it dried , I used the Blizzard Thinlet Die to create the background
  • The Tree was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on Whisper White ..and then Colored with the Stampin’ Blends
  • After the stamping and coloring was finished, I fussy cut the top half of the tree and then made a snow bank
  • The next step was to go back in and add some shadows and snow .The shadows were added using pool party and light Smoky Slate. Then I used a colorless blender to fade it all out
  • The snow was created by adding flicks of Frost White Paint. If you look close at the bottom you can see where I had a huge snow flake and tried to fix it .  I found it was much easier to use a tinny paint brush and dot the snow on that way

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you’ll hop along to the next stop on the blog hop, Nina King at Ink Paper Sequins . There’s lots of inspiration to be found in this group – and you don’t want to miss it!

Joy to the World

Holidays

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s July Blog Hop! This year’s Blog Hop themes are inspired by popular songs – this month’s song is “I Don’t Want to Wait ’til Christmas.” We are half-way through the year, so there’s no better time to start thinking about the joy of Christmas. We are excited to share our creations with you today! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

Today I promise to be short and sweet! That way you can get on with the awesome Christmas themed blog hop!!! I adore making holiday card!! Normally once I start, it is about all I think about!!!  I just love the creativity that flows during the Holidays!!!

My card today features one of my favorite stamp sets Rooted In Nature.  This awesome set was combined with a watercolor card that I found on Pinterest!   Pinterest is a great place to find ideas for crafty projects!

Rooted In Nature Stamp Set

Rooted In Nature Stamp Set

I love this set so much it was the first of my The Creative Way series!  I really enjoyed crafting with this stamp set for that series.  Today, I’m using a project that I started for The Creative Way, but did not finish it till yesterday morning.  I was thinking about what I wanted to make for you guys and remembered that I had started this card and never finished it!  Well, it was time to correct that!!!

Joy to the World

To be real honest this watercolor was done almost two full months ago!!  I really do not recall the colors I used. My best guess is Night of Navy, Blueberry Bushel, Mint Macaroon, Soft Sea Foam,  and Gorgeous Grape (or some purplely color).

Peace

  • The first thing I did was stamp the trees. This was done by inking the stamp then spritz it slightly with water before stamping.
  • The second step was to add in the sky. This was done by wetting the background slightly and dropping in color, working from the top to the trees.  As I approached the trees The color was filled in as much as possible.
  • The final step of the watercolor was to add some snow. White craft ink does a wonderful job at this
  •  Now, it was time for a sentiment!!! The joy to the world was taken from a larger sentiment in the Nature Sings stamp set. A little masking and I had the perfect words!!!
  • Another way to create a similar background would be to create the sky and ground. Then when the background was barely wet you could stamp the trees.  This would be much easier than trying to paint around the trees
  • And just in case you missed it I used two of my new favorite products the Merry Merlot paper and the Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you’ll hop along to the next stop on the blog hop, Jackie Beers at Blue Line Stamping There’s lots of inspiration to be found in this group – and you don’t want to miss it!

No card is complete with out a coordinating envelope!!!  The watercolor wash was created with the new watercolor pencils, available in August, and a aqua painter.  Quick and simple way to add a little extra to your cards! Holiday Card

The envelope used here has a little toothy feel to it.  The envelope took the water okay…If I was to make this envelope agin I might would try making my own envelope out of watercolor paper (light weight) or shimmery white paper. Another option might would be to use ink refills cause they might require less water to get the desired look!

We must celebrat the good times….

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s April Blog Hop! This year’s hops are themed around some of our favorite songs. Today’s hop is pulls inspiration from B.B. King’s song “Let the Good Times Roll.” How fun is that?! We’ve created projects that either feature images with wheels (cards, wagons, bikes) or celebrate good times. We are excited to share our projects with you. After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

We all have those friends that make us laugh, smile, and generally feel better when we are around them. The we must celebrate stamp set honors those friends . The ones you have the most fun with.  Those that are in your tribe every step of the way!!

We Must Celebrate Stamp Set

We Must Celebrate Stamp Set

These critters are the best of friends . And you can just tell the party is going to be awesome!!!   That memory are about to be made ?

We must celebrate

  • The critters are stamped in memento tuxedo black .This is a Stampin’ Blends friendly ink.
  • The confetti was stamped in smoky slate .I stamped it twice before re-inking
  • Then I used the Stampin’ Blends to color everything in
  • The shadows in the grass are dark old olive pounced into the very saturated light old olive grass .
  • The sky was quit a challenge . Just keep at it .Eventually, you will end up with something you like .Mine is still very streaky . But, by adding different colors it kinda looks like clouds in the sky.
  • The banners are two of the new In Colors – Lovely Lipstick and Pineapple Punch.

Sunshine & Rainbows for the Inking Royalty

Sunshine & Rainbows are out! Well, at least in my mind. It is Inking Royalty Blog Hop Day and I’m super excited!!

Sunsbine & Rainbows

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s March Blog Hop! Today’s hop is filled to the brim with projects that celebrate Spring and Summer. With inspiration from Katrina & the Waves’ song “Walking on Sunshine,” we’ve created projects that share the joy and excitement that accompany warmer weather. We are excited to share our projects with you. After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

I have been wanting to use the Sunshine & Rainbows bundle for quite some time now!! I love the rainbow that you can build with the dies . And all the extras clouds, a sunshine, lightning, and great sentiments .

Sunshine & Rainbows Bundle

Sunshine & Rainbows Bundle

So, I made a card for today and it set on my desk. I liked the card but, I was not in love with it . It left me filling like, I could do better.  So, after doing a Google search and a quick look at Pinterest .I combined several things that I liked to create 2 cards for you!  Both cards use the same basic ideas. But, they are completely different from each other.

Sunshine & Rainbows

  • The background is stamped on Soft Sky with Pool Party ink
  • The next step was to add some clouds that were die cut. After die cutting them, I added a very thin layer of silver texture paste
  • The sun and clouds are cut from paper that was watercolored . I just used a little ink refills and some water and brushed the color onto hot press watercolor paper.
  • The card base is my favorite Tutti Frutti card bases from Sale-A-Bration.

Sunshine & Rainbows

  • The sentiment is stamped in Island Indigo
  • Then it was popped up with Stampin’ Dimentionals
  • A little sliver thread was added to pick up the sliver in the clouds

The second card also uses a stamped background to create your very own designer series paper and the Tutti Frutti Card Bases. If you do not have these card bases from Sale-A-Bration, you definitely need them!  They are awesome!!! And they are Free when you spend $50.

Rainbows & Sunshine

  • The suns are stamped in Daffodil Delight on So Saffron paper.
  • The word Sunshine is die cut out of paper that was watercolored with the Daffodil Delight ink refill .  The Sunshine Wishes dies are amazing and pair perfectly with the Sunshine & Rainbows bundle.
  • The Rainbow is also cut from paper that was watercolored with ink refills. I used this paper because I had it on hand . But, card stock would work just as well
  • The Hello is from the Color Me Happy stamp set. I just cut off the oh,

Below is a list of products used,  less the watercolor items, Real Red and Daffodil Delight ink pads:

Note:

I use paper that I had watercolored for several elements in both cards.  This gave the cards a little variation in colors and a softer look . If you wish not to watercolor the paper for the different elements card stock would work just as well. If you do want to watercolor the paper. All you will need is some watercolor paper, a aqua painter, and ink refills .  The colors used are: Elegant Eggplant ,Island Indigo, Tempting Turquoise, Wild Wasabi, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red. I used made a gradient watercolor wash . This gave me a variety of one color to work with.  The best example of its effect is in the word sunshine and how the color fades .

I used hot press watercolor paper because it is what I had on hand. The Stampin’ Up! cold press watercolor paper or shimmery white would work just as well.  I just happened to be out .

Below is a list of the supplies used:

Thank you for stopping by today! I hope that you enjoy the rest of the blog hop!  Go and be creative my friends!

Peace-

Jennifer
