Picture Perfect Roses for Pal’s Blog Hop

2016badge-mint

Welcome to the Pals Blog Hop for March 2016. We are thankful you stopped by to take a look at our new 2016 Blog Hop monthly themes.  This month we are featuring Spring and Spring related projects. We hope you enjoy our creations.

You may just be starting the Blog Hop or may have come from the previous link from the Line-up on the Pals Blog Hop listing shown below.  The full lineup will help you move along from blog to blog so you may see all the projects.

I have really been enjoying the Picture Perfect stamp set.  The starfish, Rose, and the hummingbird are all beautiful stamps.  I have enjoyed the layering  of stamps to achieve different results.  I had so much fun with the rose stamp (the other day) that I decided to try it again with a different red combination and using the same technique.  You can see it here.  I practiced several times before getting the stamping just right.  It really did help to stamp the Medium Color first.  Then stamp the light color.  (I did this to learn how exactly the stamp lines up! As the Light color can be kinda hard to see)    The colors used for the Roses are Real Red, Watermelon Wonder, and Blushing Bride.  This resulted in a deep rose that is amazing!   The leaves are Mint Macaron and Always Artichoke.   I paired this with Smokey Slate.

Here are the details:

  • The card base is Smokey Slate (my favorite) card stock cut at 5 1/2 inches and scored at 4 1/4 inches
  • The layers are Whisper White(5 1/4 by 4), Blushing Bride (2 3/4 by 4 3/4), and Smokey Slate (2 3/8 by 4 3/8)
  • On the Whisper White layer stamp the Brushstrokes stamp using Blushing Bride Ink
  • Using the Big Shot and the Elegant Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder emboss the Smokey Slate layer
  • Stamp the rose using Blushing Bride, Watermelon Wonder, and Real Red using  mask to give a layered look.
  • Stamp the leaves using Mint Macaron and Always Artichoke
  • Stamp “Just a Note” in Watermelon Wonder on Whisper White Card Stock.  Punch out with the Washi Label Punch.

Spring is (Almost) Here and Living with Style Blog Hop

Living-With-Style-Blog-Hop-for-Blog

Welcome to our Blog Hop! We are eagerly awaiting spring and today we have some great ideas, inspiration, tips, resources and how-to for you this Spring as you move along through the blog hop.

You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Pam Baker at The Birch Cottage on our Living with Style Blog Hop. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you make sure to see and learn from all of the articles featured here today.

I am greatly looking forward to spring and all the hope that it brings for new beginnings.  Seems like the change of seasons come just in time to rejuvenating our spirits, giving our steps a little extra purpose.  This time of the year I start opening up the house,  cleaning out old stuff,  and straightening what I have ignored all winter long.  My body just seems to be longing for warmth and sun!  The flowers start to be bloom!  Here in Alabama the process has slowly started.  Our Daffodils just started appearing in the yard.  For us, this is always the first sign that Spring is just around the corner.

Make sure to cut and bring in some of your fresh flowers! That way you can enjoy the even on rainy dreary days.

Over the weekend I started cleaning for spring.  This is a necessary much needed evil of life.  That seems to just be part of the natural process of seasons changing.  I tend to do this right before fall also!  So, I started with the most cluttered room.  The craft area (AKA dinning room)  I paint and make cards and what ever else comes to my crafting mind in this room.  Over the last several weeks I have been jumping from project to project not taking time to pick up!  So it was quite a sight!  This weekend it will be the pantry and kitchen areas.  And so on and so on and so on………   I hate and love this process of never being through….

Something else that tends too just naturally happen is that my wardrobe just seems to start cheering up.  I bring out brighter colors to ware. More yellows and pinks and greens.  Just one day it come to me…I need more color ….It’s just something we do as Spring approaches…. With this in mind my cards start to show the evidence of pinks, yellows, and greens as well.  I start pulling out flower stamp sets and wanting to paint happy stuff….

So as we approach the Spring season it is time to remember to chase our dreams, clean a little, play a lot, and hope for a bright future!

While working on this I mentioned to Mike “the man” that I need some ideas about the change of season.  A few minuets later he came back with this quote…”In the presence of spring we all delight.  Feeling the warmth and viewing the blooms of her gifts to me and you”…Wow, he really hit the nail on the head with that one!!!  I love the thought of delighting in the presence of spring!

I am loving the Picture Perfect Stamp Set from the occasions catalog by Stampin’ Up!  This set just really makes me happy.  The roses are truly picture perfect.

The layered look this set is really popular right now.  Because, the layered stamps make it easy to give a sophisticated look.  I had to practice several times before getting the rose layered correctly.  It is not something most of us get on our first try.  But, defiantly worth the effort.   My process was to choose three colors that went together for each layer of the rose.  Because the base layer was so light I was having a hard time lining it up.  So I stamped the second layer first then went back and stamped the first layer.  Then stamped the last layer.  I did this while I was practicing then went back to the 1,2,3 process after I was confidant I know how to line everything up correctly.  The 1,2,3 process to me really gives the nicest results.  1. Lightest layer 2. Medium layer and 3. Dark layer

This time I paired it with the Brushstrokes Stamp Set by Stampin’ Up!   And a Wonderful sentiment stamp from Altenew called thoughts & reminders.  And the pretty little corners are in the stamp set Help Me Grow by Stampin’ Up!

The inks used are The Ton Couture Color in Rose Quarts, Soft Garnet, Red Sangria and Stampin’ Up! Mint Macaron and Always Artichoke.  The Ton makes some really great inks.  You would think that with all the colors Stampin’ Up! has I would never buy any other colors.  But, some times a girl just needs some change.

The card base is Smokey Slate.  My favorite gray!  I just love the softness of this gray!!!!!!

Our cat’s enjoyed the craft room (AKA Dinning Room) clean up! Between a chair and a big box they made home to watch the cleaning frenzy begin!  They love being close but “hidden” and most of all snuggled up together.  It want be long and the Spring will hit and they will be running and chasing all over the place…

It’s Your Birthday…InKing Royalty Blog Hop

It's Your Birthday

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s February Blog Hop!  Stampin’ Up!’s Occasions Catalog is filled with amazing products to help you celebrate birthdays in style – from festive balloons to birthday buds, there’s something for everyone.  Today’s It’s Your Birthday Blog Hop is filled with inspiring projects that share great birthday ideas – we are excited to share what we’ve made and hope you’ll find great inspiration from our talented team members in this hop.  After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

I am really loving one of the stamp sets from the Occasions Catalog.  It is my dark horse favorite.  I love the rich texture that is achieved by the layering of stamps.  Stampin’ Up! has made it easy to layer stamps by numbering the stamps.  So you always know which one goes first!!!  I tend to use a light color with a darker color on top.   But, you could use the same color for both layers.  To do this you would need to stamp off for the lighter layers.  And stamp twice for the darkest layer.  140520G

Each of these images could be used for just about any occasion!  And we all want stamps that can be used for more than one occasion!  But, let’s be honest.  Most of us use Birthday cards the most!!!  And with the new I’m Bringing Birthday’s Back movement.  Birthday cards are even more in demand!!!  If you don’t know about the I’m Bringing Birthday’s Back movement check it out here!  It was started by Shannon West, Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator… And remember to use the #imbringingbirthdaysback

Just a little warning!! I have lots of pictures for you guys today!  Hope you stick with me through them all!

Both cards are basically the same.  Though the sentiment and the location of the star fish are in different locations.  The card base is thick whisper white cut at 5 1/2 inches and scored at 4 1/4 inches.  Then on one side I cut off 3/4 inches.  This made the final card 5 1/2 inches by 7 3/4  inches. Scoring at 4 /14 inches.   After folding, I added a little Crushed Curry to the right inside edge using a sponge dabber.  Then a thin strip of Tip Top Taupe ink.  After the ink dried Wink of Stella was used to add a little glitz!!!

The star fish are stamped using Crushed Curry and Hello Honey ink.  Then fussy cut out!  After fussy cutting I used the Wink of Stella to add a little shimmer the star fish!!!IMAG2883

The Background is layers of texture stamps from Timeless Texture.

Just randomly stamping the chosen images.  I was able to make a back ground that add a lot of interest to the card!

IMAG2885

The texture background is developed from colors you would find at the sea.  (It is still cold and rainy here! So, I am still dreaming of the warm sun…Some beautiful beach with great greens and blues, some drift wood, bright yellow sun)  Anyway, the colors used are Soft Sky, Pool Party, Mint Macaron, and Tip Top Taupe.

No Birthday is complete with out a pretty package!  Well, Stampin’ Up! can help you with that also!  We have many packaging options.  Including the Take Out Box and The Tag a Bag Box!  Both are great options for a special gift!

IMAG2858

For the Tag a Bag Gift.  I used three star fish and added a tag made from the Washi Label punch.  Then bundled it up with the White Jute ribbon.  I colored the ribbon by just simply pressing the stamp pads over the ribbon.  Using Soft Sky, Pool Party, and Mint Macaron inks.   The sides of the box are stamped with the images from Timeless Texture.

IMAG2860

For the Take Out Box.  I used a sponge dabber to make circles with Crushed Curry  and Tip Top Taupe inks.  Then added The striped Hello Honey Ribbon and topped it off with the Star Fish!

IMAG2870

The tag brings in the Timeless Texture layers and the other colors used in the card.  It is topped with You are made of wonderful punched with the Washi  Label punch!  The Ornate Tag Topper Punch makes tag making a breeze…
