Lemonade dreams

When it is a 100 degrees outside and 99% humidity my thoughts turn to refreshing dreams of lemonade.  Alabama this time of year can be brutally hot! And our humidity just makes it sticky to even walk out side. Now, I am a professed heat loving girl! But, when it get so hot with the humidity really high I just want to be at a beach with my feet in the water…or maybe on a lazing creek canoeing…or even on a float in the pool! Key is being as still as possible near water to cool off and a big glass of Lemonade!! There is just something so refreshing about  fresh lemons during a heat wave!!!  Thinking about this lead to a card that combines three Amazing stamp sets.  Lemon Zest, Coffee Cafe’, and Dare to Dream

  • Colors used are Lemon Lime Twist and Crushed Curry with a little Daffodil Delight and Old Olive
  • I’m completely obsessed with square cards right now.  This square is 5 1/2 by 5 1/2.  The tie dye panel is 4 by 4.
  • The cup is stamped in Old Olive and watercolor with Crushed Curry.
  • The Lemons and Limes are stamped in Lemon Lime Twist and Crushed Curry.  The punched out with coordinating circle punches
  • The Daffodil Delight is brought in on the Tie Dye panel.  This panel was created using a coffee filter, Lemon Lime Twist ink and Daffodil Delight ink, and baby wipes.  Just use the baby wipe to add ink to the coffee filter.  Such fun

Tie Dye fun! #tiedyebackgrounds

There is a super fun technique going around that results in a tie dye look.  I first saw this technique in a Stampin’ Up! demonstrators Facebook group and I was just amazed by the beauty!!! I have experimenting with this technique a bit.  You can see another card here.  I even used the technique for the cover of a journal I am working on for the Hacking the Color Wheel class I’m taking.   Then today it showed up in my inbox from splitcoast stampers.  Check out the tutorial here.
I love playing with different techniques that are so unique each time you use it! The key to this is to pick colors that work well together.  Soft colors are just as beautiful as bright colors! I am just drawn to bright colors, so that is what I use the most!

  • The tie dye panel is “dyed” with Lemon Lime Twist ink.
  • Creating a two color background panel is a great way to highlight different areas of a card! The Lemon Lime Twist has gold behind it. The white section gold!!! This helps bring out the gold medallions
  • The Eastern Gold vinyl stickers are just awesome!!! They are really high quality stickers.
  • I think this is my favorite of the new sentiments!!! It is in the Just add text stamp set

Good Day, Sunshine!

I have had the Beatles bouncing around in my head over the past few days.  With the 50th anniversary of Sgt. Peppers Lonley Hearts Club Band they seem to be everywhere again?  I love there music so, I’m good with revisiting there greatness.  Mike and I  watched a show on APT about the making of this album. It was quite finasating to learn about insperation, the instruments used ( everything from a piccolo trumpet to a sitar) , to ground breaking technology (that today would be done on a phone)  That’s crazy, right???? Sgt. Pepper changed the face of music!!  I remember the first time I really heard A Day In the life, With a little help from my friends, or Lucy in the sky…..

I also, remember the first time I tie dyes something, it was middle school art class.  Such fun! I think it just amazed me that a little rubber bands and some dye could produce something so cool! Then you add in all the different color combinations…and well, I could have tie dyed all year long…

When I saw this tie dye technique by Kim Jolly I just had to try it! This technique does not disappoint!! It is amazingly fun. Super easy to get the hang of. And the results are just totally cool!!!  Kim has a awesome brain for coming up with new ways of thinking about paper and ink!!! She truly is awesome!!!  Just like the Beatles?

If you would like to see more of Kim’s artful take on card making check out her Instagram.

I decided to combine her technique with the Sunshine Wishes Dies.

These dies just seemed to pair perfectly with tie dye! I have been using them a lot of late. I really love word dies!  And the flower is just to much fun!!!

It has been a while sence I mentioned the “Holy Grail” of Stampin’ Up Colors. I used two of the colors for my tie dye. Tempting Turquoise and Daffodil Delight.  The third color of the grail ,Melon Mambo, is use as a accent color for one of the cards.

  • The tie dye layer is a coffee filter scrinched up. After scrunching up the coffee filter how you like it.  The next step it to use a baby whipe to add color to the coffee filter.
  • After the coffee filter dries. You can add it to a card pannel using a glue stick.
  • The shimmer on the card is glitter embossing paste
  • Then just add the dies!!!

  • This card uses the same process. I just scrunched my coffee filter more like a cone. To add the tie dye colors.
  • The sunshine die is cut twice. Once in Basic Black and once in Daffodil Delight. Then they are glued together so that the Black is peeking through
  • The strip of glimmer paper grounds the focus of the card.

I am anxiously awaiting my first order from the new catalog!!! I can not waite!!!! #howlong

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you have a great Tuesday filled with creativity?  I’m going to leave you with my favorite beatles cover,  Joe Cocker (I miss this one every day)  With A Little Help From My Friends and the original Beatles.

Peace and Much Love My Friends-

Jennifer

Concert Tee for a Rock Star

I was recently asked to make a special card for a youg girl in out community who is sick.  It is not often I get the privlage to make such a special one of a kind card. My friend who asked me to make the card is a very Beautiful lady and has the heart of gold!!!  The tidbits of information she gave me to work with….

  1. Blue is favorite color
  2. She calles me Rock Star
  3. I call her Mini Rock Star

So my theme was rock star! And what does all rock stars have in common??? Well, probably lots of things…but, what came to my mind was Concert T-Shirts…. So, I thought I would use the Custom Tee bundle to make Mini Rock Star her own concert tee.  Kid cards are so much fun to make. Yet, I very rarely do.  Don’t know why? Just how it is!!! Because, it was such a fun experience pulling out the girl colors and the glittery paper and shimmery embossing past! Yep, I went full on Girley Girl!!!

Custom Tee Bundle

I have been very anxious to use the Tie Dye stamp set ever sence On Stage! Well, this gave me the perfect opertunity to use it!!! I used the hear tie die to make her special concert tee

Tie Die Stamp Set

To make Mini’s concert tee I first stamped the T-shirt stamp. Then using two of the hearts from the tie dye set, I created a heart on the tee. By layering them to creat the perfect tie dye heart!!!  Using Tempting Turquoise and Daffodil Delight…the two colors overlap creating a pretty green!!  Then I used the custom tee dies to cut the final tee out!

The next step was to cut the sliver glimmer paper out with the sunburst die cut! And layering it over a Tempting Turquoise card base!  The inside was decorated with another heart and more silver glimmer paper!!! And toped with a very special greeting.  The envelope was decorated with some nuvo shimmer terquoise embossing paste. And silver hearts ❤❤❤

  • Alphabet dies are great to have on had. Especially when they are photopolymer. It makes custom greeting so fun and easy!

The greeting was created with two sets from Concord and 9th.  Just waned to give them a shout out because the stamps are really  beautiful lettering and have a hand lettered feel to them. I love that!  Stampin’ Up! has a awesome alphabet set called Brushwork Alphabet, that I use all the time!!! It is beautiful?

I was so honered to make this special card! If you would like to fallow Phoenix’s story the facebook page is Pray for Phoenix @prayforphe.  It is always amazing and awesome to see Gods hand at work.  #prayforphoenix.  If you will sind this young lady all your thoughts, prayers, and good vibes!

Thank you for stoping by today! I hope each of you have time to create today!

Much Love,

Jennifer
