Lemonade summer

When it gets hot here in Alabama, all I really want to do is sit on the porch and drink Lemonade. It is hot and it is sticky. So our best defense is to stay as still as possible.  Summer is not officially here yet, but we have already had many of those two hot to move days!  I decided to make a fun little card to celebrate the warmth of the Summer and well Lemonade of course….

The Creative Way – A Product Feature

I love sharing different ideas with you about how to use your Stampin’ Blends!  Stampin’ Blends are Stampin’ Up! version of Alcohol Markers.  They are awesome in every way!!! Check out this post for more information about the Stampin’ Blends.

One of my favorite stamp sets from last years catalog was the Coffee Café stamp set!  I love anything to do with coffee or tea. And after almost 20 years in the Café business this set just makes me happy!

Coffee

Coffee Café stamp set and Coffee Cup Framelits

The stamp set and dies were combined with a technique by Jennifer McGuire, called Set Back Stamping.  This is a fun technique that really takes advantage of good white space, a focal point, and a colored panel. To create Set Back Stamping you will want to have coordinating die and a stamping tool, such as the Stamperatious is useful.

Lemonade

  • Using the Stamperatious, The cup was stamped on Whisper White with Memento Tuxedo Black.
  • Then the panel (2018 In-Color Designer Series Paper) was played over the white and the cup was stamped a second time
  • While using the Stamperatious, I stamped the fabulous friend with versa mark ink.  Then, heat embossed with black embossing powder
  • The cup on whisper white was colored with Pineapple Punch and Daffodil Delight blends.  After coloring in the image I decided to add Ice Cubes and the Straw.
  • The next step was, to use die cuts to cut the panel.  The inside of the cup was discarded. Then the panel was popped up using plenty of dimensionals.
  • The hello was created using the Pineapple Punch Stampin Blends on whisper white. After that dried, hello was heat embossed in black. Then die cut out using the Bunch of Banners dies. After die cutting, I used the colorless blender around the edges of the yellow banner to create a little variety of color
  • The final touch was using the same coloring technique to creat a thin yellow background on the card base.

Quick and easy birthday card!

A few days ago I mentioned that I struggle making Masculine cards.  I just find them a little daunting.  But, with a great color combination and a clean card design. The task becomes fun!

The Creative Way – A Product Feature, Rooted In Nature for a Masculine Birthday Card!

I love square cards!  They are perfect of sticking in a package or on top!  One of my favorite square sizes is 4×4.  To make this size card base you need to cut your paper down to 4 by 8 .  Then scoring and burnishing at 4 inches on the 8 inch side.

During The Creative Way I have shared lots of different cards using trees and leaves from the Rooted In Nature stamp set!  Today’s card focuses on the tree ring stamp! I have not used this stamp to its fullest potential.  So, I’m giving it a whirl!

Rooted In Nature Stamp Set

Rooted In Nature Stamp Set

The tree ring was paired with the Diagonal Strips (retiring 141914) and the all new Itty Bitty Greetings (Available June 2 , 146664).

The next task was picking out a Masculine color combination!  I started with picking Very Vanilla for my card base.  I choose Very Vanilla because it felt more subdued than Whisper White. The second color was picked for the tree ring.  I went with Soft Suede. (My favorite) but, really just about any brown would work very well.  The third color was picked because, I wanted a dark green. So of course, I had to go with Mossy Meadow

Rooted In Nature stamp set is perfect for masculine cards

  • The background diagonal stripe was stamped in Mossy Meadow on Very Vanilla
  • The tree ring was stamped with Soft Suede. Then using my paper snips (103579) fussy cut.  This tree ring is super easy to fussy cut!
  • The final step was to add happy birthday using the Classic Label Punch (141491)

By keeping the card clean and simple it really helped me achieve a more masculine look!

I’m going to say it one more time….If you do not own the Diagonal Stripe (141914) Background Stamp get it now!!! It will be going away at the end of the month!!! You want this stamp I promise!!!  And with Itty Bitty Greetings you can change up the greeting to fit any occasion!!!

Introducing the 2018 In-Colors

I’m sure you have heard by now that we have new In-Colors! The 2018-2020 In-Colors are awesome! They will be available to all in the up coming annual catalog (June 2)  There are 5 new colors which are…Pineapple Punch (my favorite), Blueberry Bushel, Grapefruit Grove(the most perfect peach), Call me Clover, and Lovely Lipstick . I’m saying that Pineapple Punch is my favorite and it is….I was so hoping for a bright Sunny yellow! And boy did Stampin’ Up! deliver!!! It is awesome. The other 4 colors are just as amazing!!!

In May, there will be a special pre-release bundle available to all! Share What You Love Bundle will include the Love What You Do  stamp set from the up coming Annual Catalog!

Love What You Do

Love What You Do Stamp Set

The bundle also includes designer series paper, ink, and embellishments.  Also available are the 2018 In-Color ink pads!!  So, I decided to combine the Love What You Do stamp set and the new In-Colors for a little parade of sorts.

Lovely Lipstick is a beautiful pink red that will make your heart skip a beat!!! It is such a beautiful rich pink red and will be perfect for flowers, backgrounds, and so much more!

Love What You Do with Lovely Lipstick In-Color

  • This is the easiest card I have ever made!  The background stamp just lends itself to a very clean style!
  • The Background wash of color was stamped with Lovely Lipstick .
  • Then using Basic Black .I stamped the flower and sentiment .
  • The final step waturess to add a few Metallic Enamel Shapes

From here, I played with the card design to step it up a bit!  Also in each of following cards features the Diagonal Stripe Background Stamp .

Diagonal Stripe Background Stamp

If you have not gotten this stamp yet.  You defiantly need to grab it up before it is gone!  It will not be returning in the up-coming catalog . So go get it now! I promise you will use it all the time!!

Love What You Do with Blueberry Bushel In-Color

  • The card was turned on its side and a strip from the Diagonal Stripe was added.
  • The washed background was Stamped with Blueberry Bushel by stamping off once then stamping onto the paper
  • The flower and sentiment were stamped at full strength .
  • The final step was to add a bow using the Whisper White twine.

Love what you do with Call Me Clover

  • Yet again, I turned the design on its side
  • The wash background was stamped with Call Me Clover as well as the Diagonal Stripe
  • The sentiment and flower were stamped with Basic Black ink
  • Finally, adding a combination one new twine in the Share What You Love embellishment kit and Whisper White twine

One of my absolutely favorite color combinations is yellow and blue….or is it blue and yellow.  Anyway, before I degrees…I just had to share how awesome Blueberry Bushel and Pineapple Punch are together

Love what you do with Pineapple Punch

  • The wash background was stamped with Pineapple Punch
  • The Diagonal Stripe, sentiment, and flower were all stamped with Blueberry Bushel
  • The final touch was adding a few Metallic Enamel Shapes

The last but defiantly not least is Grapefruit Grove.  It is just a happy peachy orange!  I’m not a huge fan of oranges….But, I sure do love this color!  It also, looks classic paired with Blueberry Bushel

Love what you do with Grapefruit Grove In-Color

  • The wash background was stamped with Grapefruit Grove
  • The Diagonal Stripe, sentiment, and flower were stamped with Blueberry Bushel
  • The final step was adding some twine. The Grapefruit Grove twine is from the Natures Twine Set .(Available in Up Coming Annual Catalog)  This twine is a stiffer twine.

I hope you enjoyed this little introduction to the New 2018-2020 In-Colors.

Bon Voyage Retiring In-Colors

Stamping Blog Hop

Welcome to the Remarkable InkBig Blog Hop for April 2018. This month our theme is Bon Voyage Retiring In-Colors!  You may just be starting the blog hop here at my blog – Jennifer Spiller at Westside Paper Creations or may have come from the person previous to me on the list. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all the projects.

Bon Voyage 2016-2018 In-Colors you will be missed

I have so enjoyed using these beautiful In-Colors. In so many ways, I’m kinda sad to see them go…on the other had I am super excited about all the New Colors coming soon in the Annual Catalog .  More about that on another day!  Today, we are saying Bon Voyage to the retiring In-Colors, which includes Dapper Denim, Emerald Envy, Sweet Sugarplum, and Peekaboo Peach.  Flirty Flimango is also part of this color family. But, it is staying around for a few more years! Yeppie for that!!  I decided that the Faux Batik technique would be perfect to show off the beauty of this In-Color collection . I just pulled out a bunch of stamp sets and started playing with the technique .Then when I was finished I made a few cards out of the panels.  This technique works best with stamps that have more of a solid image. If you would like to know more about Faux Batik check out this post here.

Faux Batik

  • The colors used for the Faux Batik effect are Peekaboo Peach and Sweet Sugarplum
  • The stamps came from Petal Passion, Painted Harvest, and Oh So Eclectic stamp sets
  • I liked the Faux Batik so much I decided to keep the card quite simple so it could shine
  • The silver thread and copper thread adds a little texture without taking away from the background

The Faux Batik effect was created by

  1. Stamping and heat embossing images onto tissue paper
  2. Layering the tissue paper over a piece of Shimmery White paper .
  3. Using a baby  wipe sponge color onto the tissue paper.
  4. The color will transfer to the paper everywhere you add ink except in the embossed areas .
  5. To learn more about the Faux Batik technique, check out this post!  To see other Faux Batik cards click here and here

Faux Batik

  • This background is made with Dapper Denim and three different sizes of circles. One from Waterfront , One from Oh So Eclectic, and One from Painted Harvest
  • Where you can see the ink went over some circles. That is because I layered my embossed tissue paper to create the effect .
  • The word celebrate is layered up by stacking three Dapper Denim one Peekaboo Peach on top. The adhesive sheets makes this process super easy

Faux Batik

  • These little trees from the Waterfront set are perfect for the Faux Batik technique!
  • This time I used Emerald Envy and Peekaboo Peach to creat the Batik effect
  • After it dried, the trees were cut out with the Stiched Shapes Dies
  • Layering with crumb cake and the Seaside Embossing Folder
  • The dollie was sponged with both Emerald Envy and Peekaboo Peach

So that’s definitely on the to-do list.  Then getting some cards together to send out next week.  It is rainy here today, which lends itself greatly to staying dry and creating! Which is what I have been doing most of the day! Yesterday, was lovely here as we spent the afternoon at St. Bernhard in Cullman at their annual Blooming Festival.  Blooming Festival

Remember to be creative to be creative it is good for the soul

My kind of garden…

The Graceful Garden Stamp Set is one of my favorites for spring. I have always wanted a beautiful rose garden .  Gardening is necessary my thing…I love planting plants in the spring .I even enjoy taking care of the plants .But, somewhere along the way I stop watering them or I forget to fertilize them. So for now that beautiful rose garden is in my head . All ready to be recreated with the Graceful Garden Stamp Set!

Graceful Garden

Graceful Garden

I love the lattice-work stamp. This stamp will connect together in several spots to make a repeated pattern . And the large rose reminds me of the most elegant rose-bush ever . The little rose makes me think of old county climbing roses .

Graceful Garden

  • The lattice is stamped twice with Dapper Denim
  • The rose was stamped with memento ink . Then colored with Stampin’ Blends adding the darkest shading near the bold black .
  • The sentiment was stamped in Basic Gray.
  • The final step was to pop up the rose and the layers of the card.

Each of your comments makes me smile! Please, comment HERE.

Decorating envelopes is one of my favorite things!  I just stamped the lattice background and the small rose.  With some very simple coloring!
