It’s a colorful day

Some times  you just have to create your own color!  The days have been cool and gray here in Alabama.  So today, I decided it was time to create my own Spring!!  I love the colors of spring! Bright yellows, pinks, corals, and shades of green . It is just a happy time of year.  To recreate my Spring day, I chose the Petal Passion Designer Series Paper .  This paper is so fun to color!

Petal Passion

Petal Passion Designer Series Paper

I truly love this paper!  The patterns are modern and classy!! The most perfect combination for Designer Series Paper!!!   If you choose to color the paper it completely changes the look of the paper . My favorite way to color this paper is with Stampin’ Blends.  The Stampin’ Blends are Stampin’ Up! version of Alcohol Markers. They will be available soon! Due to popularity they are currently sold out!  But, they will be back soon! Stay tune for more!!

Petal Passion Card

  • The card base is Powder Pink cut at 4 1/4 inches and scored at 5 1/2 inches.  I call this the Brian way, cause he always makes his cards this way!  And Brian was the first person I noticed to do this years ago.
  • The layer is Tranquil Tide
  • After coloring the Petal Passion Designer Series Paper, I had a 6×4 piece,  it was cut down to fit the card.
  • The final step was to pop up the sentiment from  the Color Me Happy Stamp Set

You guys know I love to decorate my envelopes . I did something a little different for this envelope!

Petal Palette Stamp Set

  • I made a square using a t-ruler and a pencil .
  • The second step was to add the stamped images from Petal Palette stamp set
  • Then, I added the square with a fine line pen.  After adding the ink lines, I erased the pencil lines
  • You can see some pencil lines within the square . That is for the address.  They will help me right straight . After I address the envelope, I will erase the pencil lines

Mermaid Dreams …

Saturday I got the opportunity to stamp with some friends. I love it when we get the chance to get together and learn from each other. We worked on learning a few new techniques. We worked on making faux Lenin three different ways. The first two were very similar techniques. The third though, used tissue paper to make a background. This technique did not (for me) really turn out looking like Lenin. Thought, I will keep it in my stash. Because, it is beautiful. We had fun stamping and creating backgrounds for future cards. I loved all the chatting and catching up, it is always the best part!

There is a beautiful stamp set in the annual catalog that will have you dreaming of mermaids… The Magical Mermaid stamp set is just one of the most gorgeous sets I have ever seen. The mermaid is so perfectly drawn and lends its self to all sorts of coloring. Especially, watercolor!

Magical Mermaid

The Stampin’ Up! samples for this set are just so perfect. They used the little mini mermaid for gift tag. How cute would that be for a pool party or beach party. It is paired with a card that is watercolors that brings all the magic of the mermaid to life.

I love how clean and fresh these samples are. They are just so awesome! The stamp set is so pretty that it takes so very little effort to make it look amazing! And as stampers we love this!

  • For the background Take a piece of tissue paper and stamp all over it with a “texture like stamp” I used the stamp that had little crabs and shells mixed with sand and the dotted texture stamp that is like water bubbles. The crab and shells stamp I stamped in Pool Party. The Texture stamp I stamped in Tranquil Tide
  • At this point you take the tissue paper and wad it up into a ball. Then un-wad it. This adds lots of texture to the tissue paper
  • Then I started to decide on a background color to admire my tissue paper to. This is when, I decided that the pool party stamping really did not show up on the tissue paper. So, I sat a few minutes and decide to re-stamp the crabs and shells in versamark and use silver embossing powder. this turned out beautifully, but you really can’t tell that they are crabs and shells
  • The next step is to add the sea weed in Tranquil Tide
  • I decided to use Bermuda Bay as my background. I added glue from a glue stick to the front on the panel and adhered the tissue to that. Then flipped it over and attached the tissue to the back of the panel
  • The next step was to and silver embossing to the edges of the panel and to the Berry Burst layer with the texture stamp.
  • On a piece of shimmery white paper silver emboss the Mermaid. Then using Berry Burst, Flirty Flamingo, Powder Pink, So Saffron, Daffodil Delight, and Peekaboo Peach watercolor the mermaid with a aqua painter.
  • Then after the mermaid is dry, fussy cut the mermaid out.
  • The sentiment is stamped in Berry Burst on shimmery white and layered with an embossed sliver layer and Tranquil Tied.
  • The sentiment and the mermaid are popped up with dimensionals
  • And finally add a few metallic enamel shapes.

Color Me Happy Inking Royalty Blog Hop

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s June 2017 Blog Hop!  Today’s Blog Hop is filled with projects inspired by Stampin’ Up!’s 2017-2019 In Colors – Berry Burst, Fresh Fig, Lemon Lime Twist, Powder Pink and Tranquil Tide.  What an amazing collection of new colors!  We are excited to share our creations with these new colors.  After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.  Hi Lisa and Louise !!! Thanks for joining us ? I’m a huge fan and your creativity is amazing! Hugs…

Back several years ago, more than what I would like to admit. My Yoga teacher would play part of the Gray’s Anatomy soundtrack while we were practicing.  Believe it our not, It actually is a great soundtrack for your yoga practice. Back then I did not watch a  lot of Gray’s Anatomy because, “the other” did not really care for it.  So the songs came associated with peace, relaxation, and hard work.  You know that moment at the end of the Yoga class when you are laying on your mat.  You made it through it and everything is right in the world.  Just for that moment….when you just breath… Later on I decide that I would watch Gray’s when “the other” had already gone to bed.  That way I could enjoy my Gray’s.   Now I am one of those freaks who marathon watch Gray’s from season 1 to the end. Because, how else do you watch Gray’s????  Try it sometime, it is hours of entertainment.  And each time you watch it you will be drawn to a different character… And besides, what else is there to watch this time of year???   I love me some Gray’s Anatomy.  That being said,   I just had to have this sentiment in the Colorful Seasons Stamp Set.  It completely reminds me of everything I love about Yoga and it makes me think “I got this” and to keep breathing…

The New InColors are just amazing!!! I love each and every one of them.  The Powder Pink is just soft and wonderful.  I discovered a little color combination in making these cards,  I will be keeping in the back of my mind.  Powder Pink and Smoky Slate are AMAZING together.

Two Other really great color combinations I found were Powder Pink ink blended with Berry Burst.  Then Lemon Lime Twist ink blended with Tranquil Tide is AWESOME!!!! Beautifulness together…

These cards were quick and easy. A little stenciling with the new Pattern Party Decorative Mask.  I just adore this circle mask.  It has a kinda bohemian feel to it that pairs perfectly with the stencil.  The bold pattern makes it easy to create a quick and easy focal point.  I love how the sponge brayer lays color down with this mask.  It really makes it so much fun to uses stencils when you have the right tool for the job.  I am working on making a set with each new InColor.  I got all the stenciling done to make a set of 8 of each color done last night.  Tonight, I will add the embossing to each.  Then put them together and decorate the envelopes to match.    I did finish one of each so that you could see all the Pretty new InColors.

When I first started using Berry burst, I decided that it belonged with the purples.  But, the more I use it the more reddish it becomes.  It defiantly is not red…But, It’s not purple.  Magenta??? Maybe?  What I do know is that this color is beautiful.  I keep reaching for it over and over and over….  The powder Pink is soft and so sweet of a color.  After stenciling with it, I love the color.  It will be perfect for those true girly cards.  This soft pink was so muted.  That I decided to use a different color for the Sentiment.  The stenciled color and the stamped color are just really to close together for them to be the same.   And look how wonderful it looks paired with Smoky Slate and Basic Black.  Who Knew.  And the card with it blended with Berry Burst.  Just wow!!!  How pretty are those two together.

Fresh Fig is the most perfect jewel tone.  This rich purple is amazingly beautiful.  It reminds me of a deep dark amethyst.   Lemon Lime Twist is such a fun and happy color.  This color just makes me smile!!  Tranquil Tide is my absolutely favorite of the new InColors.  This deep dark pool color is perfect in every way.  It reminds me of the ocean.

  • Each card was stenciled with the Pattern Party Decorative Mask using one of the New InColors.    The sponge brayer is perfect for this.  You can start of light and build up the color as desired.  I tried to add some variations to the color of the stenciling. By adding more color in certain areas.  Make sure you use a different sponge for the brayer with each color.
  • The sentiment is stamped in the same color as the stenciling.  Except, the Powder Pink.  (we’ve discussed that)
  • The edges are heat embossed in either copper or silver.  This is easy to by running your paper edges along the versa mark stamp pad.  Then adding your embossing powder.  Repeating the process until you like your edges.
  • to finish of the card, I added circles from the Eastern Places stamp set to the inside of the card and on the envelope flap.
  • The Envelop is also stenciled on the front completing the look.

Stamping off can give you different layers of a single color.  This helps your inks go further and gives different layers of  value to a single ink pad.
