I am super excited about this hop! Lisa Pretto and Janet Wakeland have put together! I can not waite to see what everyone has created  for this hop!!!

Today I am featuring obe of the latest Sale-A-Bration items, Make A Madallion Stamp Set. I loved this set from the moment I saw it!  The medallion that can be layered with different colors and sentaments to create a look all its own.

The little extra flourishes add so much to the life of this awesome set!  I enjoy making sets of cards for family and friends. My great aunt is one of my most beloved supporters. She is a fellow creative soul! And I love making cards for her. This is one of the designs I am currently working on for her! Love you, Aunt Sarah!

  • The card base is the note card and envelopes packs. These are perfect for small sweet cards!  Each layer is 1/8 inch smaller.
  • The colors used are Whisper White, Bermuda Bay, and So Saffron
  • Remember the envelope! It is important to make the entire package pretty! Envelope decorating makes the mail persons and the recipient smile!!! And what is better than that ?

The little diamond shape is such a pleasent suprise in this set! It is perfect for creating a simple background!!! It would be perfect for a confettie look on a card. And it is stunning on a envelope!!!

Food Truck on the run!

The food truck pheomenon has taken the US by storm over the past several years.  Lets be honest. They have allways been around in some form.  From the street vinder serving hot dogs to the tamale truck .  I recent years food trucks have been glorified with tv shows like Food Truck Faceoff. Lest be honest thought, you must really love cooking to spend your days cramped up in a hot truck you can bairly move around in…and most of them have two or three people in this space…I bet, things get headed from time to time….as a food service worker myself. I know we are a passionate group of people and most of us love the people we work with. So sometimes things get a little roughty…anyway, I bet it  hot, hard work, tiring, and intresting to work in such small spaces…I would need a excape hatch!!!!   I could push a button and it would open and  easly excape…like Inspector Gadget. Now that could be fun!  If you want to experence the food truch world check out this fabulous Sale-A-Bration stamp set Tasty Trucks! FREE with a $50 purchase

Today’ s card is a CASE card! I love CASEing cards! It makes the design process easer!  Whenever I can’t decide what, to do I start CASEing cards.  98% of the time it leads me to other ideas!!!! My friend Robbye sent me a picture of a card she was working on. I loved it so much that I had to make my own version of the card. I changed up the card colors some. And where I used paper to creat some interest she used bakers twine to do the same.

The truck is stamped in tuxedo black by Memento. I used this ink becaues I was going to do a little coloring with the prismacolor markers.

  • This ink does not react with the alcohol in the markers. So you have a crisp image when you are though coloring.
  • I added a line at the bottom to ground the truck.
  • I used the same color at the top to make raceing stripes

This little food truck just looks like it is running away to me!! I’m not completely sure where or what it is running from but, boy  he sure is going! He is even blowing a little smoke out the tail pipe. …I guees he could be russing to feed people but, we all know thats not near as much fun?

Being apart of the InKing Royalty is loads of fun!  I have mentioned to you several times that I have a friend that I bounce ideas off of! They are a Royal! I could not make half of what I create without them in my life… Robbye is a Royal and she sent me a picture and it helped me be more creative! And thats what it is all about after all. Friends helping and inspering each other to be creative.

Global Design Project color challenge #gdp021

I am loving the colors for this weeks color challenge over at Global Design Project!  Brian did a great job picking out these fab. colors!!!!  They remind me of a soda shop or maybe a old time ice cream shop.   I like to call this type of color palette “bubble gum”  GDP021

I started working on several ideas I had for this color challenge.  Butterfly’s came to mind as one Idea.  Then, I was flipping through some of the paper from Sale-A-Bration and thought….Hummm….. maybe I should color that while I decide what to do with my butterfly’s.  I even did a little ink test on some new watercolor paper  in thinking about this card.   So, I was coloring and thinking….And in my coloring (for the new 30 day color challenge)  I found my cards main focus..

The Botanical Gardens Designer Series Vellum is so very pretty.  And even better it colors beautifully with the Many Marvelous Markers by Stampin’ Up!  IMAG2815

The card base is Basic Black cut at 5 1/2 inches and scored at 4 1/4 inches.  I colored the Vellum using Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay, and Wisteria Wonder markers.  The layers are Melon Mambo (5 3/8 by 4 1/8( and Bermuda Bay 5 1/4 by 4).  The sentiment  a happy hello is from Tin of Cards stamp set.  After stamping the sentiment in Basic Black on the Bermuda Bay layer, I tore the three top layers  (Melon Mambo, Wisteria Wonder, and Vellum) to add contrast and interest.   Then layered them over the Bermuda Bay layer.  Using the Melon Mambo and the Wisteria Wonder markers I added a little distressing to the tearing layers.

IMAG2813

A few tips:

  • coloring vellum really makes the beauty of the design shine.  After coloring this vellum, I layered it on each color before deciding witch to adhere it to!  I picked the one I felt made the vellum design shine.  You, many decide another color is your favorite.  Go with what you like the best :>
  • When adding vellum to card stock be sure to use a adhesive that will not warp the vellum.  I used multipurpose glue.  I add a small dot of glue to the card stock and then spread it out with my finger.  Then add the vellum on top.
  • The Black as a base really makes this color combination pop!  Be sure you are using neutrals that are best for your color combination!!!
  • Be sure to decorate the inside of your card.  Especially when you are using a very dark card base….this really makes the card extra specialIMAG2814

Here is the supply list:

Also, don’t forget to go over to Global Design Project and see all the Fab. projects that the Design Team has created and the projects by all those playing along….And you still have a little time to play along also…So go and create something wonderful…and color everyday….it’s good for you
Much Love,

Jennifer

All stars for Watercooler Wednesday! #WWC51

It has been a while sense I had the chance to participate in a Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  I had a strange fall, hectic holiday, and just getting back to stamping on a daily basis.  This weekend I got the opportunity to spend some extra time in the craft area “it’s kinda spread out”.  This meant that I had the chance to play along with some of my favorite challenges.  Yahooooooo!!!!

Over at the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge, they are having a clean and simple (CAS) challenge with starts.

WWC51

I reached for the obvious choice Be the Star stamp set.  I love this set and it has been a while sense I had it out.  So, I am glad that Bev over at Watercooler Wednesday come up with this challenge.

Be A Star

The color inspiration was is the Sale-A-Bration paper Wildflower Fields.  Hello Honey, Blackberry Bliss, and Lost Lagoon.  141022O5

It is easy to get this paper for FREE right now.  All you have to do is spend $50 with Stampin’ UP!

IMAG2761

The stars are stamped in Lost Lagoon and Blackberry Bliss on Whisper White Paper.  Then cut out using the Stars Framelits Dies.  I also cut out a star in each size in Lost Lagoon and Blackberry Bliss.  The sentiment was stamped in Lost Lagoon and made into a banner using the Triple Banner Punch.  The card base and panel for the card are both Hello Honey.  The panel was embossed using the Zig Zag textured Impressions embossing folder.

A few tips:

  1.  The Zig Zag panel brings much-needed interest to the background without talking away from the stars.  It also mimics the Wildflower Fields Designer Series Paper used behind the sentiment.
  2. Placing the star and the banner panel at an angle brings your eye into the Sentiment!
  3. Glue the banner panel to the Hello Honey Zig Zag panel before you add it to the card base.  This makes it easy to cut off access paper.
  4. The Hello Honey Panel being the same color as the card base allows for the stars to really shine bright!
  5. Adding a Stampin’ Dimentional between the two layers of stars gave so depth to the card!

Flowering Fields for Pals Paper Arts PPA284

Over a Pals Paper Arts Maggie Mata has a great design for us to play along with.  This was a fun sketch to work with!!! All the Pals on the design team did a great job sharing inspiration for us!  So, be sure to hop over to Pals Paper Arts!

PPA-284-Jan21

When I started working on this card, I decided to use two papers from the Sale-A-Bration Brochure.  Wildflower Fields Designer Series Paper and Perfectly Artistic Designer Series Paper.

Perfectly Artistic

I pared them with the Flowering Fields stamp set.  Also, from the Sale-A-Bration Brochure.  If you are wondering what Sale-A-Bration is all about.  Well, it is simple! If you spend $50 you get to pick one item from the Sale-A-Bration Brochure for free!!!! Did you here me FREE!!!

Flowering Fields

Flowering Fields

I wanted to keep thing’s simple and stay somewhat true to the design.  I did though decide to flip the triangle on its head.  When I finished the card it still needed a little something.  I had been toying with the idea of a sentiment but, could not really find the right spot.   I sent a few pictures to a friend during the process.  And they suggested a banner.  The banner really brought the whole card together.  It is always nice to have someone you can bounce ideas around with!

Before the Banner!

Before the Banner!

I really liked the results of the original card.  But, when I compare it to the one with the banner…WOW!!! What a difference one little element can make :>  IMAG2748

The flower and the “Happy Birthday” are stamped in Basic Gray.  This ties in the background paper!  True Confession time…I have been using Basic Gray a whole lot lately.  And , I would never have picked it up other than I lost my Basic Black ink…So for now I am stuck with Basic Gray!!!!  I am really enjoying the Basic Gray! It just might have won me over :> Well, maybe…. And I really like the combination of the gray and black mixed with white!

Here are a few tips:

  1. Don’t be afraid to mix black with gray!  Done right it will look so sophisticated!!!
  2. The ovals were easy to cut with the oval collection framelits dies and my big shot!
  3.  Using the Triple Banner Punch made making the banner a breeze!!!!  By sticking the banner out the back of the punch it was supper easy to line up…see picture…
