Sunshine fun!

Inking Royalty blog hop

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s June Blog Hop! This year’s Blog Hop themes are inspired by popular songs – this month’s song is “Here Comes the Sun.” As you can guess, our Blog Hop today is filled with projects that are inspired by the joy of the summer sun. We are excited to share our creations with you today! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

About a week ago my dear friend and fellow royal, Andrea,  posted a card in the Inking Royalty Facebook page that was perfect for today’s blog hop!!  Of course, I asked her if I could share it with you guys!  She is a super talented paper craftier!  And I am very happy to be sharing Andreas card with you today!!!  I kinda swiped her color combination as inspiration for my own creations for the, Here Comes The Sun Blog Hop!

Inking Royalty

I adore this card so much!!! It is full of happy! Including the amazing color combination of Mango Melody, Pineapple Punch, and Daffodil Delight!!  To create the sun burst Andrea used the light ray from High Tide Stamp Set.

I created three cards for you today using this wonderful happy sun color combination!!! To create the cards I used two Stamp Sets Abstract Impressions and Playful Backgrounds!  Both stamp sets have a very happy feel that works great with this sun color combination! Then for the simple sentiment, I used the always fun stamp set Hand Lettered Alphabet

  • The background was created using Mango Melody and Pineapple Punch inks with the Abstract Impressions stamp.
  • I flipped the stamp each time it was stamped to give a little verity to the shape
  • I was very tempted to add sequins for some bling, but in the end decided to keep it quite simple

  • This card used the Playful Backgrounds stamp set with the full spectrum of the sun color combination
  • The first step was to stamp the circle amoebas in Daffodil Delight
  • Then following in Pineapple Punch and Mango Melody
  • After stamping, I used A baby wipe to add some soft texture
  • The final step was to add the small dots

  • This time the ombree’ effect was created by stamping from light to dark
  • First up was Pineapple Punch, then Daffodil Delight, and finally Mango Melody
  • This fun stamp is in the Playful Backgrounds stamp set!

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you’ll hop along to the next stop on the blog hop, Lynn Kolcun at Avery’s OwleryOwlery. There’s lots of inspiration to be found in this group – and you don’t want to miss it!

Lemonade summer

When it gets hot here in Alabama, all I really want to do is sit on the porch and drink Lemonade. It is hot and it is sticky. So our best defense is to stay as still as possible.  Summer is not officially here yet, but we have already had many of those two hot to move days!  I decided to make a fun little card to celebrate the warmth of the Summer and well Lemonade of course….

The Creative Way – A Product Feature

I love sharing different ideas with you about how to use your Stampin’ Blends!  Stampin’ Blends are Stampin’ Up! version of Alcohol Markers.  They are awesome in every way!!! Check out this post for more information about the Stampin’ Blends.

One of my favorite stamp sets from last years catalog was the Coffee Café stamp set!  I love anything to do with coffee or tea. And after almost 20 years in the Café business this set just makes me happy!

Coffee

Coffee Café stamp set and Coffee Cup Framelits

The stamp set and dies were combined with a technique by Jennifer McGuire, called Set Back Stamping.  This is a fun technique that really takes advantage of good white space, a focal point, and a colored panel. To create Set Back Stamping you will want to have coordinating die and a stamping tool, such as the Stamperatious is useful.

Lemonade

  • Using the Stamperatious, The cup was stamped on Whisper White with Memento Tuxedo Black.
  • Then the panel (2018 In-Color Designer Series Paper) was played over the white and the cup was stamped a second time
  • While using the Stamperatious, I stamped the fabulous friend with versa mark ink.  Then, heat embossed with black embossing powder
  • The cup on whisper white was colored with Pineapple Punch and Daffodil Delight blends.  After coloring in the image I decided to add Ice Cubes and the Straw.
  • The next step was, to use die cuts to cut the panel.  The inside of the cup was discarded. Then the panel was popped up using plenty of dimensionals.
  • The hello was created using the Pineapple Punch Stampin Blends on whisper white. After that dried, hello was heat embossed in black. Then die cut out using the Bunch of Banners dies. After die cutting, I used the colorless blender around the edges of the yellow banner to create a little variety of color
  • The final touch was using the same coloring technique to creat a thin yellow background on the card base.

Abstract Impressions Bundle

Abstract Impressions Bundle

I love that Abstract Impressions is Bundled with a floral die and butterfly!  I gotta feeling you will too!  The floral die is absolutely gorgeous!!

The color combination is all new Stampin’ Up! colors as well!  Mango Melody, Gorgeous Grape, Granny Apple Green, and  Gray Granite

Abstract Impressions Thank You

  • The rose is stamped using all three layering stamps. The base is Mango Melody stamped off once. The second layer is Mango Melody at full strength.  The third layer is Grapefruit Grove. Some of the roses have all three layers. Some only have two of the three layers.
  • The purple flower is Highland Heather for the base. This color stamps a lot darker than it looks when dry.  Then Gorgeous Grape stamped on top
  • The leaves are Granny Apple Green. The inside of the leaves are Granny Apple Green stamped off once
  • The final step was to add some Gray Granite dots by statistically inking one of the flower stamps

Rooted In Nature Faux Batik

The Creative Way – A Product Feature

May’s The Creative Way – A Product Feature is all about Rooted In Nature Stamp Set! I have really enjoyed creating with this set. It lends itself to techniques (including Faux Batik, sweek), different styles, and is beautiful!!! What more can you ask for out of a stamp set!!

The first post in this series shares a lot of my thoughts about the Rooted In Nature Stamp Set and the Nature’s Poem Suite that Rooted In Nature  is apart of! You can find that post here

For day 2!

For Day 3!

Faux Batik

Today’s card features a very unique technique, Faux Batik.  I love this technique so very much. And today I added so little extra to the technique!  By adding heat embossing to the finished Batik. Making masculine cards are a challenge for me.  I love flowers, stripes, colors, and other girl things.  The Rooted In Nature (146479) stamp set makes masculine cards a breeze!!

Faux Batik is quite simple.  There are a few steps but, each one is easy enough!  The first step is to pick your stamp.  The second thing you want to do is heat emboss the image onto a piece of tissue paper. Then, layer the tissue paper over shimmery white paper.  Using a baby while add ink to the tissue paper.  Pressing down making sure the tissue is thoroughly inked.  Then gently lift the tissue to reveal the batik image.

A all occasions card featuring Faux Batik for The Creative Way

  • The first step was to do the Faux Batik.  For the Batik I used Tranquil Tide and Blueberry Bushel. You can learn more about this process here.
  • After finishing the Faux Batik process I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to stamp and heat emboss the tree.  This is what give the light shadow around the image.  The embossing is copper.
  • The next step was to add texture!  Copper Thread, Blueberry Bushel paper, leaves, and Leaves Trinkets (146343)
  • The final step was to add a strip of Tranquil Textures Designer Series Paper (146331)  and Copper Foil (142020)

Did you notice that the card base was the new Merry Merlot! This awesome color was added to the neutrals collection!  I adore this new neutral!  I have so enjoyed sharing. Rooted In Nature with you during May’ The Creative Way!

Leaves, Leaves, and More Leaves!

Welcome to day 2 of The Creative Way!  I am stamping my way through the stamp set Rooted In Nature!

The Creative Way – A Product Feature

Today, I am using the two leaf stamps that remind me of leaf rubbings!  Do you remember when we were all kids??? One of the art activities would be to go outside on a nature walk and pick up leaves.  Then when we were back in the class room we would lay a piece of paper over the leaves.  The next step was to rub a crayon over the paper and be awed when the leaf vein pattern showed through the paper!  As a child I always loved doing this! So, as an adult I love that these two leaves remind me of my childhood!

Rooted In Nature

Rooted in Nature is a beautiful stamp set! I can’t say that enough!  Every time I use the set I find another reason to love it!

The first post in this series shares a lot of my thoughts about the Rooted In Nature Stamp Set and the Nature’s Poem Suite that it is apart of! You can find that post here

A card featuring the leaves from the Rooted In Nature Stamp Set

  • The color combination is pulled right from the New 2018 In-Colors.  Blueberry Bushel, Pineapple Punch, and Lovely Lipstick
  • The leaves that are stamped in Blueberry Bushel were stamped twice before re-inking.
  • I adore the sentiment! Everyone needs to be reminded how wonderful they are!
  • The yellow sequins are from the Tutti Frutti Suite in the Occasions Catalog

I really enjoyed making this sweet card!  The final step was to decorate the envelope!
