A day to recharge and #GDP075

Sunday was beautiful in Decatur. The sun was out and the temperature was just about perfect! The other and I decided to take the afternoon and ride in the country. It was so nice to just feel the warmth of the sun on our faces.  We travled a the old curvy roads…on several occasions just deciding to turn not knowing where the road leads.  Days like this are good for the soul. It rejuvenates or creative nature… When I have a creative block …the world in nature always brings back that desire to make.  I recently watched a show on Netflix called Inn Saei the power of intuition. It totally hit home is some way…that by all we are bombarded with has caused us to loose our concetion with nature or others or ourselves…it is a amazing wonder world we live in with all the awesome technology. But, sometimes we need to unplug and recharge our souls to be creative humans. Sunday was that…nothing but our voices, the sun, and the sound of the wind….ttime to think and reflect and just be. How offten do we take time to just be…

Over at Global Design Project they are having a amazingly fun challenge this week. Winged things!!! #gdp075. The design team has created some fabulous examples for us.

The fool proof watercolor technique is so much fun! I choose three colors and used them for three cards. Mint Macaroni, Pool Party, and So Saffron. This is one of my favorite color combinations.  The neutral color added is Tip Top Taupe.

Fool Proof Watercolor Technique

  1. Chooes two or three colors to use together
  2. Choose one neutral ink color
  3. On watercolor paper use a baby whipe and dab on color
  4. Using the same colors add texture using stamps. As you stamp also dab the stamped area with a baby whipe
  5. Add in your neutral color with a baby whipe and stamps
  6. Finish the card with layers… #layersmakeseverycardbetter

It was lots of fun creating these cards with my friends and team members on Saturday! We really had so much fun!!

Gorgeous Grunge stamp set

To create these cards I used the Dragonfly Basics Bundle and several of the texture stamp sets including Timeless Texture and Gorgeous Grunge

Timeless Texture Stamp Set

There are several stamp sets that have elements that would be wonderful for this technique. Including Butterfly Basics.

Gorgeous Grunge and Layered Layers Make for a Perfect Football Saturday!!!!!

Such a exciting time…Watercooler Wednesday Challenge picked my card as a winner!!! I am so very honored.  If you would like to see the card I created for this challenge please click hereWinnerBadge1

I am so very happy that today is the Start of Collage Football.  I am ready for the fun to begin.  I just love spending a Saturday watching ball!  Especially when the Alabama Crimson Tide are playing.  I can’t really explain it to you.  I just know its apart of who I am.  As long as I can remember football was apart of my life.  Being raised by two high school teacher (one of witch was a Band Director) I was always at games on Friday Night.  Tagging along behind my Dad….  I loved the band kids and they really did help in still a love of the game in me.    When I was real young and living in Selma my Mother was the Cheerleader Coach.  So, I would tag along with them some also.  I still know the cheer they tough me. And I will never ever hear the song “rock steady” with out thinking of the Selma High Saints Cheerleaders.   Being in band myself, I continued to attend football games through out high school.  Back then I really don’t remember being as some would say “fanatical” as I am now!!!! In college at UNA I attended as may football games as possible.  UNA won 3 national championships while I was in school.  I think this time at UNA sealed my fate as a football crazed person!!!  Though, it could have come from my Dad (Band Director and Avid Alabama Football Fan)  As a young child I tried to root for that other team in Alabama (Auburn) and It did not go so well.  For so many this would have left a bad taste in their mouth. But, I don’t know…. somehow it made me love loving  the Crimson Tide.  My family ( I mean all of my family) are Bama fans so I’m a Bama Fan. (Just a little of the Blind Side in me)  But, it goes deeper that that.  Game day is a day to relax, have some fun,  sometimes add a few friends in the mix, and root on your favorite team when it comes time.

My card today celebrates the beginning of Collage Football.  Not a ball fan.  No worries.  You just change up the colors and the words.  Make it a Name and Last Name.  Make it Happy Birthday.  Make it Thank You….The options are endless.

IMAG2061

My picture is not the best!  I will add more pictures latter today.  When light is better :>

Here are the details:

  • The card base is Thick Whisper White cut at 5 1/2 inches and scored at 4 1/4 inches
  • The layers are Basic Black (5 3/8 by 4 1/8), Cherry Cobbler (5 1/4 by 4), and Thick Whisper White (5 by 3 3/4)
  • The strips are Cherry Cobbler (5 by 7/8) and Thick Whisper White (5 by 5/8)
  • On the Thick Whisper White layer stamp Gorgeous Grunge using cherry Cobbler ink.  Then stamp the desired words using Layered Letters and Basic Black ink.
  • On the Think Whisper White strip stamp your desired words using Back to Basic Alphabet and Cherry Cobbler ink

Now in all fairness.  I originally made this card for a friends son who was off to Auburn University this fall.  When I made his card I decided to change it up a bit for the upcoming football season. I’m just getting around to it!!!!IMAG1530

For those of you who are wondering what a game day schedule is like for me.  I roll out of bed in time to watch collage game day and drink some coffee in the recliner.  Then depending on the game schedule I may get out and about for a bit. If it is a big game day I can’t just sit and wait!!! My head might explode or something…..today, I am staying in all day…I just got supplies in for the blog hop next week and I am going to work on that and watch football all day.  If I get out and about, I have to be home and back in “my chair” by the time the game is own.  I also, have to have the radio on tuned to the Alabama network so I can lessen to the pre-game, game, and post-game…..I like to have all the grocery’s bought, errands run, and things done before kick off (or before Saturday if I am planing to stay in)  Anyway……Happy Saturday!!!!

Among the Branches

Well, I am happy to be sharing with yall today!  If you are keeping up I missed blogging over the weekend.  After losing the computer cord and not being able to locate it.  UGGGGG!!!!!! After a great big search for it on Saturday, I decided that I had failed to bring it home from work.   That meant no blogging for me.    I hate to miss sharing with you all.  But, sometimes life just gets in the way!!!  On Sunday afternoon when Mike went to work. (He looked for the computer cord.) The the cord was still no where to be found.  Well, so now what???  How do you charge a laptop with out the cord??????  Anyway,  I was very productive in the absence of my computer.  Our dog Daisy and I took a long walk in the rain on Saturday.   She normally hates the rain.  But, it was perfect out despite the rain.  Daisy had so much fun pulling me down the road.  I just seemed not fast enough for her….. Then on Sunday,  I cleaned ALL day long, made a great little black bean and rice dish for Mike and myself and bathed the cats…. Still, no computer cord.   What’s a girl to do!!!  So finally, I start looking around (yes again) and low and behold the computer cord is right beside the computer!!!!  I promise….All, I can say is thank you St. Anthony for returning my computer cord!  You have saved so many lost things for the Blond Girl….We love you.  Thank You for all your efforts and help along the way.  I am amazed at how He returns things right where you can find them!!!

St. Anthony

St. Anthony

So, now that I have a charged computer (thank you St. Anthony)  own  with the card making.  Today’s card features a great stamp set from the Holiday Catalog called Among The Branches.  I just love the photopolymer stamps in this set!   It is available in a bundle with the woodlands texture impression embossing folder.  Both are a must.  So you midst well bundle and save 15% right off the bat!!!!

Right off, I just love how this embossing folder is designed.  And when you actually get to emboss with is ohhhhh, well then you may be on the verge of  joy.  It embosses so very beautifully!  I used it with white watercolor paper.  Why, well because it was there and the texture of watercolor paper and the wood of the folder… well, it came down to why not!!!!   After all, I was just playing around at this point anyway!  I loved the results.  But, decide for today’s project that Very Vanilla would be more suited.  So, on to today’s card.  IMAG1914

Here are the Details:

  • The card base is  Tangerine Tango card stock cut at 5 1/2 inches and scored at 4 1/4 inches.  On the card base stamp the small dots from Gorgeous Grunge in Basic Black
  • The Layers are  Basic Black (5 3/8 by 4 1/8) and Very Vanilla (5 1/4 by 3 3/4)
  • The strips are Basic Black  (5 3/8 by  1 ) and the Tangelo Twist 5/8 inches striped cotton ribbon.  Adhere the ribbon to the back of the black layer using glue dots.

  • Cut a circle using Basic Black and the 2 1/2 inch punch.

IMAG1910

For the envelope I decided to do a little extra decorating.  I used Gorgeous Grunge to and dots to the envelope flap and to the bottom of the front of the envelope.  Then for a little extra special flair.  I used the Very Vanilla Envelope Paper and the Envelope Liner Framelit Dies .  I know you are thinking…..So what….Well, after cutting out the Very Vanilla Envelope Paper with the Die, I used the Woodlands Texture Impression and the Among The Branches stamps to make a fabulous liner.

Choose Happiness for Pal’s Paper Arts 262

Today I am playing along with the Pal’s Paper Arts.  The Pal’s are a great group of  paper artist who all happen to be Stampin’ Up! demonstrators and the down line of Mary Fish.  Mary is  a fablous leader for all the Pal’s.  I love being apart of such a wonderful group.  We all support each other not just in Stampin’ Up! but, in all walks of life.  I waited a long time to join Stampin’ Up!  I am very proud to be a member of the Pal’s and the InKing Royalty’s.  Both groups are full of amazing people. PPA262

The challenge is #262 and is a color challenge.  The colors in this challenge are Mint Macaron, Pool Party, and Tip Top Taupe.  The Mint Macaron and the Pool party are very close to each other.  Yet, completely different.  One is a light shade of green and the other is blue.  They are both very soothing colors to me.  Tip Top Taupe really brings out either color.

IMAG1746 1

Here are the Details of today’s card:

  • The card base is Thick Whisper White card stock cut at 5 1/2 inches and scored at 4 1/4
  • Cut Tip Top Taupe card stock to 5 3/8 inches by 4 1/8 inches
  • Cut Mint Macaron card stock to 5 1/4 inches by 4 inches
  • Cut Shimmery White card stock to 5 inches by 3 3/4 inches.
  • Cut a strip of Tip Top Taupe to 1 inch by 3 3/4 inches
  • Cut a strip of Whisper White 3/4 inches by 3 3/4 inches
  • Cut a strip of Pool Part to 1/2 inches by 3 3/4 inches.  Then use the Decorative Dots Texture Impression Embossing Folder and the Big Shot  Glue the Three strips together.
  • Stamp the interlocking stamp using Tip Top Taupe ink.  See below pictures about how to achieve a straight line.  The Stamp-A-Ma-Jig is involved.
  • Stamp this layer with the dots from Gorgeous Grunge in Pool Party. (only do this on the top part of the card stock)
  • Stamp the branch from Choose happiness in Staz On Jet Black.  Then using a blender pin color in the branch using Mint Macaron ink
  •  Stamp “You are in my thoughts” in Tip Top Taupe on the Shimmery White card stock.  Use the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to get the stamp in just the right spot!  “you are in my thoughts” is from Best Thoughts Stamp Set.
  • On a scrap sheet of Whisper White card stock stamp the bird from Choose Happiness in Pool Party.  Then fussy cut the bird out.  Using Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere the bird to the branch. I use Stampin’ Up! paper snips for this.  They make cutting a breeze.
  • All that is left is to glue everything together.  Glue the Shimmery White stamped layer to the Mint Macaron layer.  Then using Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere this layer to the card base.  Glue the strip layer to the Shimmery White using multipurpose glue.

IMAG1746

To line up the Tip Top Taupe stamping I used the 1 inch strip of Tip Top Taupe and Post It Note tape to hold everything in place.  Then using the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig I stamped the interlocking stamp.  Perfect results!

IMAG1743

Sometimes when using the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig I forget witch edge of the stamp I was using.  This time I got smart and put a “X” on the end that was going against the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig.  That way I will always know witch end  is correct.

Please make sure to check out all the fabulous creations by the Design Team over at Pal’s Paper Arts. And don’t forget to scroll down to the bottom to see all the projects by those like me who are playing along with the Design Team on Challenge 262
