InKing Royalty Blog Hop

Sneak Peek Blog Hop

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s May Blog Hop!  As Stampin’ Up! demonstrators, we’ve already been able to order some fun, new products from the upcoming 2016 Annual Catalog.  What a thrill!  Today’s Blog Hop is filled with inspiring projects that feature sneak peeks of projects from the new catalog.  After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

I am so in love with the new upcoming catalog from Stampin’ Up!  There are so many amazing stamps, paper, and other products for all of us to love.  One of my favorite stamps from the 2016 Annual Catalog is the Pop of Paradise Stamp Set.  I just love the flamingo and the pineapple!

Another great stamp set is Layering Love.  This set has sentiments paired with amazing fonts!  Now, you know I am a fool for a good font!  And this set defiantly has that covered…

So, for you guys I decided to combine both of these stamp sets with the new In Colors for 2016.(Witch I am now completely in LOVE with!!!!!) Using simple watercolor, the In Colors, and these fabulous stamp sets for a fun artsy card.  Now, I have lots of pictures for you guys so lets get this show on the road!!!

By making simple brush strokes I was able to make a playful background!!!

IMAG3258

Stamping the sentiment in black really makes it POP against the bold background.  I love how you can see the pattern through the words….Such fun!!!

Sometimes, Hello is all that needs to be said!!!

IMAG3260

I love how the same basic background can be used to make many different cards that have a personality of their own!

IMAG3247

Attaching vellum to a background can be tricky.  I adhered the vellum to the background under the sequins.  I love how the vellum adds texture and dimension without talking away from the sentiment and background! It also, helps to heat emboss the stamping on the vellum.  This helps prevent smudging….

When you have worked hard on a background it is best to keep the design simple.  This make everything come together smoothly.

Let’s talk a little about what I did.  I used my ink refills as watercolor.  A drop of ink from the refill and a little water and you have your own custom watercolor.  The more water you add to the ink the softer the color will be.  All of the strokes made on these cards were created using the Cotman Aquarelle 1 inch brush by Winsor & Newton.  This brush gives great solid strokes.  The paper I used was Strathhmore Mixed Media paper.  There was no particular reason for this.  Though it is a smooth paper that reacts well to stamps and to watercolor.  I worked with two bowls of water.  One to rinse the brush and a clean water bowl to keep my brush thirsty.

After creating each background I added the stamped image.  Using either Archival Basic Black, Sweet Sugarplum (2016 In Color), or Dapper Denim.  Then keeping with the them of the In Colors each background is backed with one of the new In Colors and placed on a card base of a coordinating In Color!  What fun…

I have one more for you…It is my favorite….IMAG3250

Because, I  watercolored with four of the In Colors I decided to use the 5th color (Sweet Sugarplum) for that to adorable flamingo.  To add some fun dimension.  I attached his legs to the card base. Then popped up the body and head using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you’ll hop along to the next stop on the blog hop,
