One word blog hop “Sunshine”

Sunshine

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s July Blog Hop! This year’s Blog Hop themes are inspired by a single word – and this month our projects are centered around SUNSHINE. The Sun is the single most important source of energy for life on Earth – it guides our clocks, calendars and planting schedules. We may be enduring a heatwave this week, but we still associate the Sun with positivity, joy, and renewal. We are excited to share our creations with you today! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

I had this vision in my head of a sunny background with the grass and flower silhouette (Friendly Silhouette Dies/149546)  The first step was to make a few Sun backgrounds.  I really wanted to capture that moment that the sun just starts to rise. The bright yellows against the darker blue almost night sky. To do this, I used sponge dabbers and ink!

Sun

  • I masked off an area for the ground.
  • Then ink blended the yellow.
  • After ink blending the yellow I added a circle mask to the mix.
  • Then more yellow ink and some blue.
  • The final step was to cut some masks to make sun rays.  And more ink blending.

The next step was to add the silhouette dies…..

Yea well, let’s just say…the card had other ideas of what it wanted to be. Seriously, this walrus (We’ll  Walrus Be Friends/149367) is just too cute not to be floating in the Sunshine!!!

  • The background is pineapple punch, daffodil delight, and mango melody for the sky.  The water is Seaside Spray and Pacific Point.
  • The sun rays were made with the side of the sponge dabber making a line from the sun to the sky.  The sun was masked at this point.  This created a softer sunray effect
  • After making the background, I added a horizon line using the Pacific Point Stampin’ Wright Marker
  • Then the walrus and fish were colored with Stampin’ Blends

Summer Lovin’

Today is the Blogging Friends hop! We are celebrating Summer!  The theme is Summer Lovin’…you got it right out of my favorite childhood movie Grease.  So, of course, I had to make a beach card for today hop!

Summer Lovin'

I had a bunch of ideas floating around in my head. One was to recreate the mood of the first scene in Grease. You know Danny and Sandy on the beach…

To create my scene I decided to do some watercolor.  For the watercolor, I just had to use the new Pigment Sprinkles.  Along with the new sprinkles, I used a few of the ink refills as watercolor. I just have to say, the new Pigment Sprinkles are so very vibrant!!!!

After picking what medium I was going to use for the background, I had to decide what stamps and dies to use!  My first choice was the Friend Like You bundle!  I knew that the palm tree die was a must.

Friend Like You Bundle

Friend Like You Bundle 10% savings

This bundle makes my heart so happy!!!  There are so many things to love!  The palm trees for one! The cattails (I have always loved cattails) Then you have awesome dies that can create really cool outdoor silhouettes.

Friend Like You

  • The first thing I did was to sprinkle out some pigment powders into a pallet. Then I added some water to make the fluid.
  • I watercolors the water using Blueberry Bushel ink refill and the Bermuda Bay pigment sprinkle.
  • As the water dried.  I started working on the sky, using Daffodil Delight and Mango Melody pigment sprinkles and the Calypso Coral ink refill.
  • There is this little strip of blue sky.  That was created with Smoky Slate and really watered down Bermuda Bay.
  • The specs of yellow on the water were a happy accident.  At one point I tried sprinkling some Daffodil Delight pigment.   And now we have a reflection of light…
  • The palm trees are pieced together from several leftover pigment powder test.

I completely hope you will give the Pigment powders a try!  They really make beautiful backgrounds and can be used for so many different ideas.

One word “New” Blog Hop

I’m super excited to be hopping along with the Inking Royalty. This group of stampers is my favorite!  They always provide plenty of inspiration, encouragement, and friendship!  I’m happy you are here!

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s June Blog Hop! This year’s Blog Hop themes are inspired by a single word – and this month our projects are centered around NEW. With the launch of Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Annual Catalog, NEW gives us the opportunity to showcase new products and play with new colors. There are also new occasions (babies, weddings, graduations) to celebrate, so you are going to see a variety of projects in this hop. We are excited to share our creations with you today! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

I’m using the NEW In colors and two NEW stamps set today.  The new In Colors are muted and lovely.  I have not had much of a chance to play and discover all the loveliness of the In Colors. So, this blog hop was the perfect opportunity to discover how awesome they are!  I found that I love Seaside Spray with Smoky Slate. And Terracotta Tile with Mint Macrone makes a perfect modern color combination.

I decided to use the Verdant Garden Stamp Set. I adore this pattern play stamp set.  The best part is the stamp set is super easy to align!  I didn’t even use the stamperatious. Just my stamp set and clear blocks!

I have been dying to use the willow tree in the Memorable Mosaic Stamp Set!  So, of course, this was a perfect opportunity!!!

Memorable Mosaic

After stamping this willow tree I’m completely obsessed with the beautiful and unique look it produces!! I am absolutely looking forward to using it more in the future!

  • The colors used are Terracotta Tile, Pretty Peacock, and Seaside Spray
  • Look how absolutely lovely that tree is!  I love when all you do is a stamp and you create a beautiful image.
  • The Distinktive stamp is what allows you to have shades of ink with one stamping! Which is pretty cool

  • If I was to make this card again, I would make the word “happy” in a different color. Something contrasting, maybe yellow.
  • The circle was punched from a background that I made using Seaside Spray and Pretty Peacock. I saved the rest of the background for another card.
  • The Happy came from the die set Well Written. The Birthday from the corresponding Well Said stamp set

Next up is the card made from the rest of the stamped background after punching my circle

  • I had the Well Written dies out so, it only made sense that I die cut a few of the elements to add to this super simple card
  • The Seaside Spray background needed a little pizzazz. So, the subtitle texture embossing folder to the rescue! This embossing folder is my all time favorite

  • Oh my, this just might be my favorite color combination for the new In Colors. Terracotta Tile and Seaside Spray
  • One of the fun things about the Verdant Garden Stamp Set is you can quickly create several cards but simply changing up ink

  • I adore the color combination of Seaside Spray with Smoky Slate
  • The thank you is from the Kindness & Compassion stamp set. The die cut greenery and friend  is from the Well Written die set

I just have one more card for you.  I really enjoyed creating different backgrounds using the New In Colors and the New Verdant Garden Stamp Set. I have about 5 backgrounds that I did not use. So, this is mot The last you have seen of this stamp set!   The new In Colors are beautiful on there own or combined with other colors in the Stampin’ Up! family!

  • Terracotta Tile and Mint Macaron are just so lovely together!  This color com can go Modern Christmas to Summer happy!  I went Modern Christmas
  • This card lends itself to several ways to step it up. 1.you could add a ribbon and a nice bow 2. Sequins would look awesome. 3. A little silver thread behind the deer would bring some holiday sparkle

You may be wondering where Racoco Rose and Purple Posey are.  I made several backgrounds with Racoco Rose it is a wonderful color. Unfortunately, when I started making cards I forgot to use one of the Racoco Rose Backgrounds.  Purple Posey ink is not available yet. Hopefully, soon we will have it!

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you’ll hop along to the next stop on the blog hop, Denise Hoepfner at The Mountain Magpie. There’s lots of inspiration to be found in this group – and you don’t want to miss it!

Verdant Garden say hello to Memorable Mosaic

The Blogging Friends are hopping today!  We are all sharing projects for the all-new Annual Catalog from Stampin’ Up!  This new catalog is just jammed packed with such wonderful stamps, inks, paper, and dies.  Our favorite things as a paper crafter!  I have been meaning to make a Birthday card for a sweet lady who has been a part of my life basically forever!!!  She is apart of so many of my childhood memories. So, when my Stampin’ Up! box was on my doorstep when I got home I know it was time to create!!!

Today, I decided to combine two of my favorite stamp sets Verdant Garden and Memorable Mosaic.  I absolutely love both of these stamp sets.   Even more, after getting them inky.   Verdant Garden is going to be so much fun to play with.   You guys know I love color and pattern!!! This stamp set allows you to play with all sorts of color combinations while creating a beautiful pattern!!  You can’t beat that in my book!

Memorable Mosaic is absolutely GORGEOUS!!!!   I adore the idea of the willow tree in a mosaic form! I can not wait to use the beautiful tree!  This stamp set is available as a bundle with the Timeless Punch.  The bundle is a 10% savings!!!  The sentiment “sending all the happiest wishes your way” was perfect for the birthday card I wanted to make!  This meant I got to use the new punch as well!!!  Yeppie!!!! little happy dance….

Memorable Mosaic

I can’t tell you how much I’m looking forward to using this stamp set in the future.  Let’s talk about how the color combination came about.  It was really easy, I know I wanted to use the Garden Lane Designer Series Paper.  Stampin’ Up! used the best of the best greens in this beautiful paper!!!  So, I had  Soft Seafoam, Mint Macaroon, Garden Green, and Mossy Meadow.  The next step was to add a pop of color!  I decided to use one of the new In Colors!  Because I wanted some contrast to all the green, I chose to use Terracotta Tile.  This red/orange makes the greens shine in all there glory!!!

Garden Lane

Garden Lane Designer Series Paper

Just look at that paper, does it not just make your heart go pitter patter.  All those lovely greens all together!!!   I so enjoyed making this card!  It had been so long since I had had the chance to be creative, I think my soul was itching for that creative outlet to be filled.  I did a little of everything, fussy cutting, coloring, paper cutting, layering of colors, coloring again, more fussy cutting,  and of course stamping!!!

Birthday

  • The first thing was to stamp the sentiment in Terracotta Tile. Then using the Timeless punch I punched it out
  • Next was stamping the vine and magnolia bud.  After they were stamped I colored and fussy cut them out.
  • Next was figuring out how to layer the vines and buds behind the sentiment. It was at this point I decided I need more buds. So, stamp, color, and fussy cut again … If you are going to do this much fussy cutting. You defiantly want the Stampin’ Up! paper snips
  • Now it was time to layer the papers and pop the sentiment up with dimensional
  • The final step was the envelope.  I love decorating envelopes. I’m particularly in love with how this turned out.

Here is a look at the Inside of the card and back of the envelope.  The inside sentiment is from the Well Said Stamp Set.

Each of your comments makes me smile! Please, comment HERE.

Peace my creative friends-

Jennifer
