One word Vacation!!

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s August Blog Hop! This year’s Blog Hop themes are inspired by a single word – and this month our projects are centered around VACATION. While many are reminiscing about their summer vacations, others are looking forward to the long weekend just around the corner. We are excited to share our creations with you today! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

When I was a freshman in high school my family took a huge vacation to the New England States.  One of my musts sees things was a moose.  I also wanted to visit Boston to see where the New Kids On The Block lived, go to Walden Pond, and see a humpback whale.  This vacation was epic!! We did everything from the Fourth of July with the Boston Pops, went to a cranberry bog, saw Plymouth Rock, had poached Pears in Amherst,  and Lobster in Mane, Cape Cod,  Kennebunkport, and a beautiful covered bridge somewhere in Vermont.  So, of course, I had to use the Merry Moose Stamp Set.

I have been in kinda a desperate need for some “guy” birthday cards.  And this stamp set just seems to fit the bill to me. By combining it with Itty Bitty Birthday Greetings stamp set, the Buffalo Plaid, and Burch background stamps. A guy card was sure to appear!

I really have enjoyed having this wonderful greeting set around for all my birthday card needs!! I love all the different fonts and combinations of greetings!

• The first thing I did was to create a Burch background. It was stamped with Gray Granet.  Then using my ink pans and brushing it over certain areas of the stamp to add some contrast. And stamped again. Then I did the same technique with black ink.  The next step was to clear heat emboss on top.  A  positioner tool makes this process very easy. Finally, I added some sponging of gray granite ink for more color variation.
• The buffalo plaid background was stamped with mossy meadow ink on mossy meadow paper.
• The moose was stamped in gray granite. Then using a “rock and roll” technique. I added gray granite and soft suede on top.   Then finally stamping with the detail outline stamp

This second card has a completely different feel to it!  It is more like those moments of quiet you seam to be able to capture while on vacation. Finding beauty in the simple moments of life.

• This card had a watercolor background. The colors used are Poppy Parade, Mango Melody, and Mossy Meadow.
• The dark shadows were naturally created when I watercolored Mossy Meadow over the dried sunrise.
• The trees were stamped with mossy meadow ink
• The moose in the foreground was created the same way as the Moose on the first card.
