Balloon fun and Happy Birthday!

Posted by on Oct 26, 2015 in Balloon Framelits and Dies, Remembering Your Birthday | 2 comments

Balloons are so much fun to create.  And with the Balloon Framelits and Dies by Stampin’ Up! it is supper easy to create many different fun balloons.  Because, we all know that where there are Balloons there is fun being had!!! (well, except for the hospital…that’s a whole different balloon situation all together)  A few weeks ago I made a card using Liquitex Ceramic Stucco Gel Medium and I decided to revisit this technique for today’s card.  To see the original card click here.

I cut strips of  Acrylic Paper and watercolored  the paper using two different yellows.  After the watercolor dried I used the Balloon Framelits to cut out the Balloon.  Then, I add the textured layer using the diamonds from the Happy Patterns Decorative mask and Liquitex Ceramic Stucco gel medium.  To make the Diamonds bright Melon Mambo I simply added a few drops of  Melon Mambo Ink Refill to the gel medium and used my palette knife to mix the two together.  The Silicone Craft Sheet is a perfect surface to mix the two together.  Though I do suggest that you not allow the medium to dry on the Craft Sheet.

The second Balloon was made by water coloring strips of watercolor paper using washes of watercolors in rainbow order so that they blend together well.  I just allowed the paint to go where it wanted.  After the strip of paper had dried I cut out the Balloon using the Balloon Framelits and Dies and my Big Shot.

The background is a simple watercolor wash on watercolor paper.  (I am always practicing simple washes…they are not a strong suite of mine..but with practice …progress is being made) Then I used the Curvy Corner Trio Punch and made the edges of the paper all pretty.  Layered on top of Mellon Mambo and a Daffodil Delight card base.  At the bottom of the watercolor paper I add “happy birthday” using the Stamp-A-MA-Jig and Remembering Your Birthday Stamp Set

Here is the supply list:  You will also need watercolors, watercolor paper, acrlyic paper, palette knife, and Liquitex ceramic stucco gel medium

Thank You for visiting Westside Paper Creations!  I am looking forward to the next time we meet here!  Happy Stamping and have a wonderful creative day :>

Christenberry Collection for a Wonderful Wedding

Posted by on Oct 21, 2015 in Uncategorized | 2 comments

Instagram is my favorite social media.  This may be because I have used it as a place to fallow all my favorite paper artist.  This leads to a very pretty and interesting Instagram feed.   I just enjoy seeing all the wonderful cards, paintings, new products, and experimenting that goes on in the Instagram world!  One day I was perusing through my Instagram feed and our local paper goods store (The Paper Chase) had a little giveaway going on.  Now ya’ll know I love me some paper products.  So of course I was going to inter into the giveaway.  The Paper Chase was doing this giveaway in conjunction with three other small businesses.  So off I went to check out the other three businesses.  What I found was my new favorite place to buy surprises (gifts) from….Christenberry Collection is Amazing!  Meredith the owner of Christenberry Collection has put together a great collection of art!  Her Instagram feed makes me want to buy pretty paintings everyday!  Meredith started Christenberry Collection in January of 2015 to help artist sale their art online according to Claire Brody Design. (Check out this interview at Claire Brody Design)  I would like to add that Meredith is also helping people who love art find a way to buy art that is amazing!  Here are a few of my favorites from her Instagram feed!

So, as soon as I had the chance I bought a amazing peace of art from Meredith’s collection.  She had these amazing pin and ink drawings by artist Amanda Petro.  795a19e53c449e06dfb0c687c3b439b0

These were perfect for a friend who was getting married!  I love the simplicity of the pin and ink work.  They are so very clean and simply beautiful!  Meredith made the process so very easy….I made a card sent it to here and she did the rest!

Now, I worked a while to make this card just right.  It was for a friend who means so very much to me.  But, it’s hard to make a wedding card that is masculine approved.  So, this is what I came up with.

The card base is Tip Top Taupe layer with a embossed Tip top Taupe layer on top.  Then I used watercolor paper to make the sentiment panel.  First I taped off a rectangle area and used Pool Party  reinker to create the background.  I added layers of the color till it was at the desired darkness.  Allowing this to dry.  Then I tore the paper to make the rough edges!!!!  Finally I stamped the Sentiment using Staze On Tuxedo Black.

Seems simple enough!  But, I think that the result was a clean and simple card that almost was masculine!

I am going to leave you with a few more pictures of Amanda Petro’s art work….

She is truly Amazing!!!!
