It's Your Birthday

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s February Blog Hop!  Stampin’ Up!’s Occasions Catalog is filled with amazing products to help you celebrate birthdays in style – from festive balloons to birthday buds, there’s something for everyone.  Today’s It’s Your Birthday Blog Hop is filled with inspiring projects that share great birthday ideas – we are excited to share what we’ve made and hope you’ll find great inspiration from our talented team members in this hop.  After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

I am really loving one of the stamp sets from the Occasions Catalog.  It is my dark horse favorite.  I love the rich texture that is achieved by the layering of stamps.  Stampin’ Up! has made it easy to layer stamps by numbering the stamps.  So you always know which one goes first!!!  I tend to use a light color with a darker color on top.   But, you could use the same color for both layers.  To do this you would need to stamp off for the lighter layers.  And stamp twice for the darkest layer.  140520G

Each of these images could be used for just about any occasion!  And we all want stamps that can be used for more than one occasion!  But, let’s be honest.  Most of us use Birthday cards the most!!!  And with the new I’m Bringing Birthday’s Back movement.  Birthday cards are even more in demand!!!  If you don’t know about the I’m Bringing Birthday’s Back movement check it out here!  It was started by Shannon West, Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator… And remember to use the #imbringingbirthdaysback

Just a little warning!! I have lots of pictures for you guys today!  Hope you stick with me through them all!

Both cards are basically the same.  Though the sentiment and the location of the star fish are in different locations.  The card base is thick whisper white cut at 5 1/2 inches and scored at 4 1/4 inches.  Then on one side I cut off 3/4 inches.  This made the final card 5 1/2 inches by 7 3/4  inches. Scoring at 4 /14 inches.   After folding, I added a little Crushed Curry to the right inside edge using a sponge dabber.  Then a thin strip of Tip Top Taupe ink.  After the ink dried Wink of Stella was used to add a little glitz!!!

The star fish are stamped using Crushed Curry and Hello Honey ink.  Then fussy cut out!  After fussy cutting I used the Wink of Stella to add a little shimmer the star fish!!!IMAG2883

The Background is layers of texture stamps from Timeless Texture.

Just randomly stamping the chosen images.  I was able to make a back ground that add a lot of interest to the card!

The texture background is developed from colors you would find at the sea.  (It is still cold and rainy here! So, I am still dreaming of the warm sun…Some beautiful beach with great greens and blues, some drift wood, bright yellow sun)  Anyway, the colors used are Soft Sky, Pool Party, Mint Macaron, and Tip Top Taupe.

No Birthday is complete with out a pretty package!  Well, Stampin’ Up! can help you with that also!  We have many packaging options.  Including the Take Out Box and The Tag a Bag Box!  Both are great options for a special gift!

For the Tag a Bag Gift.  I used three star fish and added a tag made from the Washi Label punch.  Then bundled it up with the White Jute ribbon.  I colored the ribbon by just simply pressing the stamp pads over the ribbon.  Using Soft Sky, Pool Party, and Mint Macaron inks.   The sides of the box are stamped with the images from Timeless Texture.

For the Take Out Box.  I used a sponge dabber to make circles with Crushed Curry  and Tip Top Taupe inks.  Then added The striped Hello Honey Ribbon and topped it off with the Star Fish!

The tag brings in the Timeless Texture layers and the other colors used in the card.  It is topped with You are made of wonderful punched with the Washi  Label punch!  The Ornate Tag Topper Punch makes tag making a breeze…

Today is rainy here in North Alabama.  It is one of those dreary winter day’s that makes you long to feel the sun’s warmth. So gray and gummy…. As the blues set in here.  The Pals Paper Arts has just the color combination to help bring us back from the blues.  This is a beautiful Spring color combination of Old Olive, Calypso Coral, and Lost Lagoon.  Kathy McGloin really out did herself!!!!

Brian over at Stamp with Brian made a beautiful butterfly card using Paper Placing.  This is a fun technique that Brian warns Do not make this card!!!  Loving his results, I had to give it a try!  Some ideas just roll around in my head until they come spilling out.  scolloped thinlits

I cut the striped scallop thinlits die with Calypso Coral card stock and was looking at it with Lost Lagoon and Old Olive when I remembered Brian’s card!!!!IMAG2847

What I did was cut the Striped Scallop Thinlist Dies with each color, Calypso Coral, Lost Lagoon, and Old Olive.  Saving all the pieces.  The second step was to glue the frame to a piece of whisper white card stock.  Then just simply glue the extra pieces in place.  The final step of the panel was to cut it down to show no white.

Layers, Layers, Layers!!! The more layers I added to this card really made it shine.  It also really lends to different sentiments and placement for a clean card! The Thanks is adorable on the Wash tape punch!IMAG2850

The card base is a little different size.  It is 5 by 4.  So to make this size card just simply cut a sheet of card stock to 8 by 5.   Score at 4 inches on the 8 inch side.  The inside panel with the Striped Scalloped Die is 3 1/2 by  4 1/2.

The card base for the small thank you card is 3 3/4 by 4 1/2 .  To make this size of card cut a sheet of card stock to 7 1/2 by 4 1/2 inches.  Then score at 3 3/4 inches.

The three sentiments are from Helping Me Grow, Number of Years, and Watercolor Wings stamp sets.
