Playing along with Pal’s Paper Arts

Today is rainy here in North Alabama.  It is one of those dreary winter day’s that makes you long to feel the sun’s warmth. So gray and gummy…. As the blues set in here.  The Pals Paper Arts has just the color combination to help bring us back from the blues.  This is a beautiful Spring color combination of Old Olive, Calypso Coral, and Lost Lagoon.  Kathy McGloin really out did herself!!!!

PPA-287-Feb11

Brian over at Stamp with Brian made a beautiful butterfly card using Paper Placing.  This is a fun technique that Brian warns Do not make this card!!!  Loving his results, I had to give it a try!  Some ideas just roll around in my head until they come spilling out.  scolloped thinlits

I cut the striped scallop thinlits die with Calypso Coral card stock and was looking at it with Lost Lagoon and Old Olive when I remembered Brian’s card!!!!IMAG2847

What I did was cut the Striped Scallop Thinlist Dies with each color, Calypso Coral, Lost Lagoon, and Old Olive.  Saving all the pieces.  The second step was to glue the frame to a piece of whisper white card stock.  Then just simply glue the extra pieces in place.  The final step of the panel was to cut it down to show no white.

Layers, Layers, Layers!!! The more layers I added to this card really made it shine.  It also really lends to different sentiments and placement for a clean card! The Thanks is adorable on the Wash tape punch!IMAG2850

The card base is a little different size.  It is 5 by 4.  So to make this size card just simply cut a sheet of card stock to 8 by 5.   Score at 4 inches on the 8 inch side.  The inside panel with the Striped Scalloped Die is 3 1/2 by  4 1/2.

The card base for the small thank you card is 3 3/4 by 4 1/2 .  To make this size of card cut a sheet of card stock to 7 1/2 by 4 1/2 inches.  Then score at 3 3/4 inches.

The three sentiments are from Helping Me Grow, Number of Years, and Watercolor Wings stamp sets.

Sunny afternoon in the Park

On pretty day’s I always want to go sit in the park with a good book.  This is the idea at least.  I never actually go and sit in the park.  Well, maybe one day I will.  I love the idea of the peace and quite at a good park lends.  People doing there own thing and not paying mind to the others around.  Normally, or at least the last time I was at the park, you see couples in love just enjoying be with each other….. My fabulous leader Mr. Brian King sent me a surprise in the mail not long ago.  It was the Happy Home Stamp Set.  I love the hand drawn look of this stamp set.  It reminds me of a pretty day…you guessed it…at the park!!!

140500S

So, thinking about the park….And a sunny day…A few rolling clouds….IMAG2794

The card was colored using a blender pen for the grassy area and tree.  The sky was colored with a aqua painter.  The colors used are Mossy Meadow and Soft Sky.   I used a little Cherry Cobbler to add a few accents to the tree and flowers.  Maybe, my park has cherry trees.  I also added a little Mossy Meadow to the sky (a tip from Understand Blue)  Lydia, at Understand Blue states that to add a little of the grass to the sky …and sky to the grass…

I just squeezed the ink pad against the lid before opening.  Then colored with either the blender pen or aqua painter and the ink that was transferred to the lid.

The Archival Basic Black really makes coloring easy.  This is because it works with any type of coloring!!!

The card base is Basic Gray!  I am loving Basic Gray these days!  I am sure you keep here this!!!!

I have seen a lot of banners that are stapled on.  So, taking from the trend I stapled the banner.   I really like how the stamped banner looks!  If you are loving Happy Home stamp set as much as I am be sure to check out all the wonderful products in the Occasions Catalog!

GDP #017

I really wanted to spend the day at home under the sheets with a warm cup of coffee (then hot chocolate) flipping through magazines.   I don’t know if it was the weather or if it was just a Thursday longing for a break.  Eventually. I would get up and make cards, paint, or what ever.  Maybe, I would even cowl back into bed and just enjoy being still.  I’m convinced that Men do not really experience this longing to just be warm and cozy.  At least the man I live and work with seems love work days.   I am sure it goes back to the days of the Man being the hunter and gather and the women staying home making the cave all nice…. I will have to say, every day I am proud to have a job that I love with a person that is amazing.  But, sometimes the urge to just be at home hits and it is time for space….. This morning in he rush to try and finish up before I had to leave for work ….I was trying to make a card that was just right for Global Design Project.  Eventually, I just loaded up all my goodies and hauled everything with me to finish this amazing clean and simple card!  It has been a while scene I have been able to participate in a challenge.  So, I really wanted a card that I was supper proud of!!! And yes, I probably put to much pressure on myself this morning leading to the deep desire to hide under warm sheets!!!!!!!!

Global Design Project has a great color challenge for us this week.  Rose Red, Garden Green and Crumb Cake.  This combination is great for flowers, balloons, trees, and so much more.  (ask me how I know)  Global Design Project 017

After may different stamps were scattered all over. I decided to go back and use Crumb Cake as the card base and using a card design that I had been playing with for my Cousin.  I did change it up a bit…But, the idea is still basically the same.

My favorite stamp set so far from the Occasions Catalog is Timeless Textures.  I just love the way this set makes all sorts of backgrounds to combine with other stamps.  It’s a great complementary stamp set to help your other set really shine.  Also, this set is strong enough to stand on its own!!!

Timeless Textures

I tried several different sentiments along with my card design.  And to be frank, I just was not feeling it!!!  We both know I was in a funk!!!  So what do I do,  Well, I pulled out a few stamps that I got for Christmas (not Stampin’ Up! shhh…Don’t tell)  So this afternoon when I finally got the chance to try and finish what I had in mind.  I luckily included a set from Mint Owl Studio.  This stamp set combines perfectly with Stampin’ Up! Timeless Textures. :>

ThoughtsandPrayersPhoto_1024x1024

I love all the different combinations of thought I can create from this one stamp set.  Mint Owl is a small and amazing little stamp company that I am totally in Love with!!!!

IMAG2671

The card base is a Crumb Cake Note Card.  Then using the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig I stamped the grid and the dots using Rose Red.  Then using the Garden Green stamp and wright marker I add the “leaf effect”.(only used the marker because sometime between last week and yesterday I misplaced the Garden Green Stamp Pad)  Again, using the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to get everything lined up just right!!!!  I added the sentiment from Mint Owl Studio using the Crumb Cake ink.IMAG2656

I hope you like this simple one layer card as much as I do!  I am trying to challenge myself to make more simple and elegant cards.  I really like how the sentiment complements the visual art of Timeless Texture Stamp Set!

I have been thinking a lot about this year and everything that I want to share with you guys.  As January approached an as we are now here in the mist of January I have been thinking about how to be better organize, how to share Stampin’ Up! more effectively with you, and how I can better serve others.  And looking at different ways to keep up with everything life has to offer I ran across several blogs that were full of beautiful ideas of how  keep tack of life.  Now, I was so excited I could not sleep.  Because of all the ideas that were rolling around in my head.  Now, I also know that I am very behind in the “planner” craze.  Personally, I don’t much care for the name planner.  I do love, all the cool products that are out there to help make planning “FUN”!!!! So , maybe soon you will see a blog post all about my “planner” bug!!!  I know, that Stampin’ Up has may products from Project Life to Washi Tape to help make my “planner” pretty.  And we all know that a pretty “planner” is better!!!!
