Beachy Little Christmas for Watercooler Wednesday

It has been a while sence I played along with Watercooler Wednesday.  They are having an all about Christmas challenge this week!

Over the weekend I made a fun background using the work of art stamp set.  I knew right away I wanted to use Beachy Little Christmas with the background!

Beachy Little Christmas

I mentioned a few weeks ago that I wanted to use this adorable Christmas tree! Today was the day!!!

  • After the background was completed I stamped the tree with Basic Black ink.  Then used a tinny #2 silver black velvet brush to watercolor the tree.
  • The colors used are Rich Razzleberry, So Saffron, Smoky Slate, and Sahara Sand
  • The sentiment was stamped and made into a banner.  I added a little linen thread, the Smokey Slate gingham ribbon, and Tranquil Tide ribbon to complete the banner
  • The final touch was adding the glitter enamel dots

To make the fun background, I used the Work of Art stamp set.  This set is loads of fun. It is full of graphic pattern, and paint strokes.

Work of Art Stamp Set

The things you will need are the two smaller brush stroke stamps ,  Whisper White or Shimmery White card stock, Soft Sky ink pad, and Sahara Sand ink pad. The processes is fairly simple.

After you have gathered your supplies, the first step is to stamp the “sand”  using the z looking paint stroke stamp.  Ink the stamp in Sahara Sand. Stamp it on scrap paper.  Then stamp it several times onto the cardstock. Turning the stamp each time you stamp it. Repeat this untill you have a beach.

The next step is to do the same process with the larger stamp and Soft Sky ink.   So, you ink the stamp. Stamp off on scrap paper. Then stamp several times on card stock before re-inking your stamp. Turning the stamp in between each stamping. And repeat till you have a sky.

How fun is that! I found this idea yesterday while looking at cards that people had made with the Sitting Here stamp set. I ran across a card by Sage Kemble at Stamping Madly. She does this technique for her sky and ground with the swing.  Beautifully!

My envelope got a little love as well, Using the small seashells to decorate the flap and the little crab on the front!! What fun!!

Christmas Fun!

I’m having a blast making Christmas Cards during my Christmas in July Instagram take over. Every day ( well almost) I have been posting pictures of Christmas Cards that I’ve made this month. With a few process pictures thrown in for fun! I have found that I’m completely in love with Lemon Lime Twist for the Holiday’s. It pairs well with Real Red, Flirty Flamingo, and Melon Mambo. Silver is amazing with it! As well as copper!

This modern color combination pairs perfectly with the Christmas Pines Stamp Set and coordinating dies.

This set appeared in the 2016 Holiday Catalog and made its way into the 2017 Annual Catalog! I’m so very glad that it did! This set is Awesome! especially if you love a modern with twist of classic!!

  • The background is stamped with Pool Party ink.
  • The middle layer is a combination of elements from the coordinating dies, Pretty Pines
  • The top layer is silver embossing and Melon Mambo popped up with stampin dimensionals after fussy cutting around the image.

Flurry of wishes…

July always just seems to be the right time to start making Christmas Cards! I love to have a good start on them so when it get down to crunch time I’m less frantic. That being said. There is nothing like waiting till the last-minute to finish them up. Every year I think this jump-start is going motivate me to be ahead of the game.  Yea, well. …we all know how that goes.

My goal this July is to make at least one Christmas card each day!!  I am sharing the process on my Instagram feed.  I would love for you to join me at @westsidepaper

I combined two stamp sets and the dies from Colorful Seasons.  I am so glad that Santa’s Sleigh and Flurry of Wishes stamp sets are sticking around for a little bit longer.  I just did not quite make enough cards with either set!!! And the snow flake dies in  Colorful Seasons brings new life to both these sets.

Flurry of Wishes

I still think the snowflakes in this set are just wonderful!

And I have used that little Merry Christmas so much!!!

Santa’s Sleigh

This set is just filled with all the wonder of Christmas! That deer is awesome and the tree is an all time favorite! I love the whimsical feel.

The color combination is a winter wonderland must have.  We don’t think a lot about mixing blues and purples together.  But, they work really well together in the right settings. Then through in a metallic and you have a wow combination!!!

  • The watercolor background has a little bit of everything in it. I used a few colors of infusions watercolors (kinda like brusho) then I added in some fineteck metallic watercolor for some shimmer.
  • The deer is stamped and then watercolor with Smoky Slate … Very watered down.  He is double stacked on top of the circles.
  • The snowflakes are die cut with silver paper as well as the background circle.
  • The sentiment was stamped and then cut out with the stitched shapes frameletts.  I love the little extra something the stitched work adds!
  • The card base is Wisteria Wonder with Night of Navy layered on top!
