Thinking of you…

Posted by on Feb 17, 2017 in basket of wishes, The Wilderness Awaits, thinking of you | 5 comments

Sometime I look around my studio and think about what I have on hand to make a card with…I keep all sorts of papers that I have practiced on.  And sometimes you just need a little insperation toget the creative juces flowing again. And I find “lost” paper to be a great jumping off point.  Lost because, normally it is something I watercolored that wasn’t right for a project so it got set aside….Today’s card came from lost paper. I was working on thinking of you cards over the weekend and just could not quite get what I wanted together…so I looked around the room and found this background still attached to a board in the floor… Then had a A-ha moment!!! I knew exactly what I wanted to do…

The Wilderness Awaits Stamp Set

I love the sketched look of this set.  It makes me so very happy seeing all these majestic animals. That fox has the most pearcing eyes… And the hound looks like it could be my Daisy…the mallard duck remindes me of home aand my cousin Brannon and his Dad…His Dad would have loved that duck…But, it was the Elk I wanted to use…

The background was watercolored with the new watercolor pencils.  I taped down the peice of paper to give the watercolored area deffante edges.  This background was originally created for the Hot Air balloon in the Lift me up set. I decided for a bolder background that day. You can see that card here

I stamped the Elk with Arcival Basic Black ink and added some color to him with the same pencils.

Then I fiddled around a long time with the bottom of the card. Adding twind and banners and what not…trying to make it more…in the end, I just stamped the sentament and used a black pen to extend the rock… The lessesn learned is….less is more. When you have a great stamp you do not always have to add a lot to it. The images stand on there own!

The sentament is from Basket of Wishes. I have been using it a lot lately.

I know y’all are excited as I am to see all the amazing projects the InKing Royalty have instore for us!!!  I can not wate to hop along!!  Today I am sharing two projects made with the Cake Crazy stamp set in the Occasions Catalog. I love this set so much! It has a super fun layered cake that can be made in many different combinations….I just love the words that are included in the set.  They are some of my favorite words…super, crazy, fantastic, and spectacular!  Who doesn’t want to be wished a spectacular day.

Cake Crazy Stamp Set

All the angles just add that much more fun!!!  I also, love the simple design this set allows for… The stamp set makes such a dramatic entrance that the card design and elemants can be quite simple!

The color insperation is based upon the bow.

Cake Crazy

  • This adorable bow is from the cupcakes and carousel accessory pack.  Along with that gorgeous ombree ribbon
  • Colors are Pool Party, Calypso Coral, and Crushed Curry

The inside of the card says Birthday with the little bow tie from the Cake Crazy stamp set.

I have been watching a documentary on Netflix called Abstract. It is quite fascinating. The stories of how different artest come to and through their process. It has helped me understand my own process of card making and all the different aprochess to the process. There is no right or wrong way! Yeppie …And, everyonce in a while the designer says something I really conect to…like less is more…or ..nothing great has ever come out of a deadline…the world is full of people that are quite driven in the arts/design.  The weard reality in witch they live is amazingly awesome!  Check it out…
