I love the Lovely Words thinlet dies.  The are so fun to use. You guys know I love word dies. So I was over the moon thrilled when Stampin’ Up! introduced these dies.  You get the words friend, hugs, and lovely. All words I like to use.  These are unique because when you die cut the word it stays attached to the paper.  They are ment to coordinates with the layering dies (circles, ovals, and hearts) and the Lovely Inside and Out stamp set!
Here is the samples from Stampin’ up!!! Such fun!!!

Global Design Project has a great sketch for us this week.  The design team has some amazing cards based off the sketch. I hope you will hop over to there blog and check it out!

Is that not just a fun and wonderful sketch!!!  I love everthing about this sketch!!! It is clean and simple.  My favorite style of card making.

  • The Eastern Places Designer Series Paper is just awesome!!! It is full of wonderfulness including this color combination. Night of Navy and Emerald Envy
  • The sketch only calls for one tilted layer. But, adding the Night of Navy tilted also really grounds the card.
  • The silver thread add a little extra without taking away from the cool paper

Good Day, Sunshine!

I have had the Beatles bouncing around in my head over the past few days.  With the 50th anniversary of Sgt. Peppers Lonley Hearts Club Band they seem to be everywhere again?  I love there music so, I’m good with revisiting there greatness.  Mike and I  watched a show on APT about the making of this album. It was quite finasating to learn about insperation, the instruments used ( everything from a piccolo trumpet to a sitar) , to ground breaking technology (that today would be done on a phone)  That’s crazy, right???? Sgt. Pepper changed the face of music!!  I remember the first time I really heard A Day In the life, With a little help from my friends, or Lucy in the sky…..

I also, remember the first time I tie dyes something, it was middle school art class.  Such fun! I think it just amazed me that a little rubber bands and some dye could produce something so cool! Then you add in all the different color combinations…and well, I could have tie dyed all year long…

When I saw this tie dye technique by Kim Jolly I just had to try it! This technique does not disappoint!! It is amazingly fun. Super easy to get the hang of. And the results are just totally cool!!!  Kim has a awesome brain for coming up with new ways of thinking about paper and ink!!! She truly is awesome!!!  Just like the Beatles?

If you would like to see more of Kim’s artful take on card making check out her Instagram.

I decided to combine her technique with the Sunshine Wishes Dies.

These dies just seemed to pair perfectly with tie dye! I have been using them a lot of late. I really love word dies!  And the flower is just to much fun!!!

It has been a while sence I mentioned the “Holy Grail” of Stampin’ Up Colors. I used two of the colors for my tie dye. Tempting Turquoise and Daffodil Delight.  The third color of the grail ,Melon Mambo, is use as a accent color for one of the cards.

  • The tie dye layer is a coffee filter scrinched up. After scrunching up the coffee filter how you like it.  The next step it to use a baby whipe to add color to the coffee filter.
  • After the coffee filter dries. You can add it to a card pannel using a glue stick.
  • The shimmer on the card is glitter embossing paste
  • Then just add the dies!!!

  • This card uses the same process. I just scrunched my coffee filter more like a cone. To add the tie dye colors.
  • The sunshine die is cut twice. Once in Basic Black and once in Daffodil Delight. Then they are glued together so that the Black is peeking through
  • The strip of glimmer paper grounds the focus of the card.
