CAS(E) This Sketch has a great card design for this week. I love the simplicity of the sketch! It has a wonderful graphic fell that lends itself quite beautifully to a clean and beautiful style of card making!

When I first saw the sketch and was thinking about what to do, I knew the Share What You Love paper was perfect! This paper is so beautiful that I really did not want to cover it up much. Also, Brian King’s card (from the design team) was a great source of inspiration for me. You can see Brian’s card and the rest of the design team’s cards at CAS(E) This Sketch. I loved how he used a tree for his vertical line in the sketch! I wanted to do something similar. So, I thought about flowers and leaves. This is what made me reach for the Petals and More Thinlit Dies (145655)!
That’s when I decided to use the thin delicate die in this set.. These dies coordinate with the Petal Palette Stamp Set (145785) . Even better they are avavailable a bundle (145973) through May! This saves you 10%!!! I promise you will be reaching for them all the time!!! And they coordinate with so much more than just each other!
The details die cut is from Petals and More Thinlits Died. They were easily stacked using the Adhesives Sheets on the back of the Mint Macaroon. This made it quick to stack on top of the Tranquil Tide

The card base is the new Petal Pink! It is the most wonderful peachy pink.

I tend to love basic sentiments hello, thank you, happy birthday…things that are not overly specific… You get the point!! Anyway, I’m telling you this because The Rooted In Nature Stamp Set has a sentiment that I have fallen in love with! I see me using it a lot…. Be Strong , Be Happy, Be You! You can’t get more encouraging than that! Theses little words are what life is all about! Being happy being You!!! You can use them together or cut them apart and just use one of them!
The Creative Way – A Product Feature
I have really enjoyed creating different cards with the Rooted In Nature Stamp Set (146479). The trees in this set are very pretty! I’m not sure exactly what trees they are! But, one I have named the mighty oak. It is this large spiralling tree that looks like it is century’s old and has seen a lot in this world. It has weathered the storm to see a better and brighter day!! I love this stamp just for the thoughts it brings to mind. We all have deep roots and we all-weather storms.
Most nights when Mike and I get home from work we watch a tv show together. Most recently we have been watching an old show called The Virginian! For those who do not remember the show, it is a mystery show disguised as a western. There are all sorts of guest stars like Charles Bronson, Jone Collins, Slim Pickens, and William Shapner to name a few. Last Night Harrison Ford was a guest star. About, a week ago we were watching the show and The Virginian was out on a trail and the scene had a big old tree that looked just like this stamp. So much so that I wish I could have screen shot it so you could see it! Anyway, that scene was my inspiration for this card! The big mighty oak and The Cowboy on the search for the truth! Go Be Strong, Be Happy, and Be You!
Rooted In Nature Stamp Set
For today’s The Creative Way Card I combined the leaves as a background then used the mighty oak stamp as my focal point and finished it off with the be strong, be happy, be you sentiment.
The color combination is Sahara Sand, Crumb Cake, and Soft Suede with a pop of Night of Navy
The background leaf was stamped with Soft Suede ink on Crumb Cake cardstock
The mighty oak was stamped the same way
The Sentiment, Be Strong Be Happy Be You was stamped in Night of Navy and sniped out
Then it was just a matter of adding layers and texture to the card
The Night of Navy ribbon is retiring! So if you love the sophisticated look of the Navy Corduroy (145597) then you need to have this in your stash!!
