Joyful Season

Posted by on Nov 23, 2015 in Joyful Season | 0 comments

Well, it is officially the Holiday’s.  Thanksgiving is upon us and that means Christmas is just around the corner. With this in mind I have a great quick and easy Christmas Card!  I tend to procrastinate during the Holiday’s.  Every year I say that I am going to send Christmas Cards early.  This NEVER Happens…. I am always last minute.  I am one of those who is proud that my cards are in the mail before Christmas Eve.  And I always say.  Remember that Christmas starts on Christmas Day.  It is a season….So, as long as my card arrives before the end of the Christmas Season…I’m good….  All these things I tell myself and anyone who will listen.  This being in mind.  I love the idea of quick and easy Christmas Card that is sure to please anyone.

I made these cards this morning for my Grandmother to send to her brothers and sisters for there Christmas Party.    The insperation for the card is a CASE from a instagram  and a artist May Sukyong Park.  You can check out her bolg at www.mayholicraft.wordpress.com

I just basically copies the layout of this card but, used Stampin’ Up! products.  Joyful Season is a pretty cardinal and branch.  That lends to many different looks.  So you could actually make several different versions of this card. And that’s what I did for you.  I made one version that my Grandmother will be using then I made two other versions.  And looking at this picture.  I just may make a third later today.  Look for it on my instagram page.  You can find me at Westside Paper Creations. I totally loving that Stampin’ Up! gives you the inside and the outline sketch.  This makes for so many different possibilities.   IMAG2452

This was the first card I made.  It is basically the exact same as the inspiration card.  I stamped the images using Real Red, Crushed Curry, Early Espresso, and Soft Suede. Then using the Project Life pin I added a border around the edge of the card.  The Sentiment was stamped in Basic Black.  It is from the Stamp Set Reason for The Season.  The card base is made from Thick Whisper White card stock.  I used Stampin’ Dimentionals to pop up the top layer.

This card is also very similar to the inspiration card.  I did change the colors up a bit.  I used Mossy Meadow to for the border and the sentiment.  The card base is also Mossy Meadow.  Instead of using Stampin’ Dimensionals I glued the layer down to the card base using Multipurpose Glue.  IMAG2447

This card I turned the whole thing on its side and used the Joyful sentiment from the Joyful Season stamp set.  The border is Mossy Meadow.   This cardinal I stamped in Basic Black and then stamped the inside with Real Red.  The card base is Real Red with the layer glued down to the card base.IMAG2449

True confessions….

Posted by on Nov 20, 2015 in Garden in Bloom | 2 comments

Last week I was browsing our local craft store.  I try to avoid this place at all cost because I always buy to much when I go in this particular place.  I was feeling particularly venerable after watching a periscope over the weekend where a fellow crater had used Viva Modeling Creme.  Thinking about what fun I could have making projects with this creme drove me over the edge and into the store.  I just had to find some Modeling Creme. In and out that’s it.  Well….I was browsing around looking for the Viva Modeling Creme (literary all over the place)  No such luck.  But, while I was in the craft store I did pick up a few things that I have been playing with.  Some new Distress Inks, a few stamps (because who doesn’t need new stamps) , some Faber-Castell Texturing Luxe (close to what I wanted), and several other odds and ends.  Now this is why I don’t visit the craft store often.  Because, I come home with $100 wort of stuff and I still need to find the Viva Modeling Creme….Now , I know you are thinking.  I bought stamps??? When I sale stamps????  But the truth is I love all stamps. Stampin’ UP! of course is my favorite. But, if I see a stamp I like.  I am going to buy it!!!  It’s just a fact of life.   I am addicted to Stamps!

I was thinking about how I was going to use my new stamps and decided to combine them with the Garden in Bloom stamp set. Garden in Bloom

I’m a huge fan of this stamp set.  It gives you so many different ways to use the flowers.  Just the outlines, Just the solid image, or combine them to make a fun watercolor sketch type of flower.   I went with the combination of the sketched and solid images to create a background all my own.  IMAG2436

The card base is Tip Top Taupe cut at 5 1/2 inches and scored at 4 1/4 inches.  The Mint Macaron layer is 1/8 inch less.  The Whisper White layer is 3/8 less (5 1/8 by 3 7/8) .  On the Whisper White layer stamp the solid flowers (I used Crushed  Curry)  Then stamp the flower outline (I used Hello Honey)  Do the same for the leaves (Mint Macaron)  Then add the little oval splashes of color in tip top Taupe.  On a two inch piece of vellum I stamped the sentiment from a Little Yellow Bicycle stamp set.  I also add a few white sequins.

Next week is Thanksgiving and Stampin’ Up! is celebrating with a Online Extravaganza starting November 23rd and running through 30th.  This will be a great time to shop for all your crafty friends.  Paper Pumpkin kits will be included.  Normally, Paper Pumpkin is only available through a subscription.  But, this once they are offering you a chance to try it with out a subscription.  Paper Pumpkin makes great gifts!  Stampin’ UP! will be having two flash sales during the Extravaganza.  One on November 23rd and one on 30th!  TH_Ecard_OnlineX_demo_11.23.15_ENG
