Vintage Leaves #sharehandmadekindness week 2
The second week of Share Handmade Kindness over on Jennifer McGuire’s blog has started. This weeks challenge is to Share Handmade Kindness with people who work service jobs. Such as teachers, waitresses, doctors, mailmen, nurse…You get the picture. Be sure to check out all the cool ideas over on Jennifer’s blog. I went back and looked through all the cards and projects attached to week 1. They are amazing!!!!! I can’t wait to see what is created for week 2.
Yesterday, while I was working on cards I created this card. I looked at it and know…I know where the inspiration for this card came from. My card is somewhat different. But, it still incorporates the ideas used in the inspiration card. I did not intentionally set out to case Brian King. But, it just happened. I loved his card so much it was inside me just itching to get out. I had actually been thinking how could I recreate that card with out just outright copying it. (what I normally do to Brian’s cards….Because, they are perfect!) This had been my thought ever since I saw his card.
Inspiration by Stamp With Brian
I just love everything about Brian’s card! The colors are perfect, the greeting amazing, and the watercolor look is my favorite! My card is somewhat different!!! Yet you can see the common threads that leads you back to Brian’s card.
The card base is is Early Espresso cut at 5 1/2 inches and at 7 inches. Then scored at 3 1/2.
On Watercolor paper (5 1/4 inches by 3 1/4 inches) use Distress Stain in Fired Brick (Tim Holtz/Ranger) to create a background that looks watercolored. The stain makes this process real easy. I just simply rubbed the stain across the paper till I had desired darkness and shape.
After this dried….I painted clear bock I with Gold Mica Ink and stamped it over the image twice. This was so that all of the watercolor paper would have specks of gold. 
This ink has a Amazing gold color and is very fun to play with. And with a simple Google search I just found out they also make a Silver Mica Ink!!! So exciting!!!!
After the gold ink dried, I stamped the oak leaf from Vintage Leaves Stamp Set in Early Espresso. Then using the Big Shot and the Seasonal Frame Thinlits cut out the work “grateful” on Early Espresso Card Stock. Using the Xyron “X Sticker Maker” to make the greeting into a sticker. Then add the sticker to the watercolor paper.
Adhere the watercolor paper to the card base. Simple and beautiful card to share with others.
While I was working with the Tim Holtz stain and the Gold Mica I made a few other backgrounds that will be used later this week for #sharehandmadekindness While you have your supplies out you should make multiple backgrounds to have on hand for quick cards.

Sharing with people who are service workers. I have for many years worked in a Cafe’ . I enjoy serving others in my daily life. I do know that as a service person we often get overlooked in the wold. I am so glad that Jennifer McGuire is encouraging all of us to remember the service community.
I am sharing today’s card with my Doctor and his staff. They were so wonderful to me during the “great sickness” . I have been meaning to thank them but, have put it off because I did not know exactly what to do! I am sending them this simple thank you note! Sometimes, a simple thank you means more than anything else you could do!!!
